Experimental piece with my girl Kirien

Hello.

I’m going to dedicate some time to using this account, so I’ll be slowly updating the content here. I’m not quite sure how I want to go about using the account, but I sure want this whole service to be successful.

The Membership Drive was successful and I’m really happy to have helped out. And seeing InkBlot reach it’s goal has inspired me to use it more. The whole mission of InkBlot inspired me and made me hopeful.

I use IG and Twitter to post my art. And it’s been great. But I’m feeling the pressure to keep posting. At the height of the pandemic, I was posting fan comics on IG every week. That got exhausting, and I burnt out. Perhaps I’ll chat about this more at a later point.

My goal with this account is to post more original and experimental art. I also appreciate the ability to post walls of text/blog posts. Perhaps I’ll also try to get into more of the community projects here too. I’ll end this blog on that note, with hopes that I post more soon.

This was actually a very experimental process with a whole lot of failures in all honesty. Short form of this is…

1. Tried to hand paint scales.. That was a horrible idea and they were not scaled properly to my illustrations.

2. Tried to make a scale brush??… That also didn’t pattern realistically for me. :“’D

3. Found a black and white very simple white snake scale texture that I polarized even further. I inverted it and just copied and pasted the texture and warped it all over their bodies on each illustration. This weirdly enough worked!

You can see a lot of this usage in many of my snakes, especially in the black and white rougher stages. The only areas I would hand paint are the belly scales and the faces. As snake scales in these areas are pretty unique and need extra love and attention. I hope this helps a bit!

Another experimental painting. This one turned out more landscapy, so I refined the random shapes into mountains and a lake.

A little peice that for an event a friend of my held. The event was based on the ghost song " The Darkness at the Heart of My Love". I had a lot of fun drawing this peice, despite how nervous I was to really post it. I got really really experimental with the colors . I rarely do anything that's brightly colored, but i enjoyed the results.

Does anybody know any good digital coloring guides or have any critique? I'm always up for it.
