Something about getting unusually sick in March of 2020 (with what, I am still unsure of) unlocked something peculiar in my head. I've felt both more methodical about what I want out of painting and more '**** around and find out' about it. Which probably doesn't make much sense, but I doubt these things are meant to.
I recall wondering if this might be the last painting I did because I was being overly dramatic, but there was nothing negative about the experience--just a mildly unearthly flow state.Something about getting unusually sick in March of 2020 (with what, I am still unsure of) unlocked something peculiar in my head. Local gremlin, sluggishly approaching age forty, finally decides to make a Meet-the-Artist.
Can't be bothered to put pride flags and such on it because that sort of thing feels far too nebulous and personal to put in boxes. Loves fine fabrics, fine clothes, and fine steel. Arguably a little spoiled (a lot spoiled) and coming to grips with it. More Artfight shenanigans! This one is for [angelaerium](https://artfight.net/~angelaerium).
I've been experimenting with using my favourite faux-pencil brush to actually render with and I've been enjoying it quite a lot. It has a slightly chalky feel in that context, and I think the bit of visual noise it adds helps to fill in gaps that I would otherwise obsess over with a perfectly smooth brush.
