This is Pride, a demon OC of mine. The strips of gold in their skin are meant to mimic kintsugi, a Japanese art of repairing broken pottery.

“What’s this?” He picked the pot up off the table for a better look, amusement scrawled across his face. At first glance, it wasn’t much to look at: medium-sized, antique Bavarian style, pale pink, ornate in design if not decoration… Not exactly an item he would have expected to see in this particular house. On closer inspection though… The entire thing was shot through with gold. Athena glanced over from the bookshelf, finger marking her place. “...my teapot?” “The *gold*.” “The kintsugi?” “The what?” “Kintsugi.” The book she’d paused on was half-pulled out and she hopped down from the ladder. “It’s a type of lacquer technique used to fix pottery.” The teapot changed hands, and a soft smile shone in her eyes as she looked at it. “Well, from a material standpoint. The philosophical… It’s seeing the flaws in a piece; realizing that it would not be what it is now had it not broken previously; making it stronger than it was before. It’s seeing the cracks, and celebrating the journey of healing.” “Where’s it from?” She handed it back to him, returning to the ladder. “The concept? Or the teapot?” “Both, I suppose…” “The concept is from Japan. One I’ve admired for a while. The *teapot*… I found it in a dusty little antique shop, tucked in a back corner, nothing but a bowl of shards. Looked like someone had simply swept up the pieces and forgotten them. I bought it for less than a buck, and put it back together myself.” Said object was set back on the table with far more care than it had been picked up with, and Evergray walked over to lean on the shelf next to her. “It came out beautifully.” “Glad to hear it. ------ This is from a fanfic a friend and I are working on, where our characters on Star Stable are running around causing mayhem and occasionally actually moving the storyline forward. In this bit, Athena and Evergray are searching for a specific spell in her personal library. A teapot catches his eye, leading to this exchange. Personally, I've always admired the practice of Kintsugi. Having been through some...*rough* times myself, there have been many times where I have felt like I was broken and not worth anything. Over the years, not only have I found this not to be true, but I have found that my experiences have been able to help other people, often in ways I would not have been able to without those experiences. I may not be more beautiful on the outside, but I am stronger on the inside, and those experiences are valuable (if not entirely pleasant). Made in Sai, approx 5-6 hours, 15 layers

She grew up in a loving family filled with punk-rock, weed, crystals, and collector's items, things that have been preserved into her very core. With her parent's help, Bast has secured her own apartment, and works in a tattoo parlor as a tattooist! She loves art, from pottery to painting to facepaint to tattoos! There's nothing this lass isn't ready to try out! She has a tendency to clutter her apartment with various art tools, works in progress, and finished pieces. She's always on the go, having an inability to sit still when there are things to experience! Because of her enthusiasm and willingness to participate in novel activities, she often ends up overspending. It's not uncommon to see Bastest surviving on ramen at the end of the month!+ +Bastet is a collector, among all things, she enjoys the pride and achievement that comes with collecting. Her closet, on the other hand, is a disaster zone, laundry is not Bast's strong suit. She has 3 main outfits that she wears almost every day; all from a thrift store 15$ collection. She has since then embroidered patterns of skulls and bones onto her outfits! adding a unique flair to them. +Bastet, despite being quite intimidating, is actually rather kind-hearted! She has a light sense of sarcasm and a lot of excitability! She's also a big fucking nerd, that will read during her free time to fill up those spaces of empty boredom. She has a tendency to say "Jinkies" after a childhood spent watching scooby doo, and sometimes if your lucky you'll find her spewing references to Star Trek and ER. Her intensity can sometimes scare people off, unfortunately, and while that saddens Bast, she never gives up. She enjoys the company of others, whether they're friends or not. Bast does indulge in the occasional edible, although she does not smoke due to a fear of hurting her lungs. +Bastet has to wear thick padded coats during the winter due to being furless! She greatly dislikes winter for this reason, much more preferring the openness of Summer. She also has a special bath routine to make sure her sensitive skin doesn't flake and break! In addition to this she also always wears sunscreen before leaving the house! The toils of being a hairless kitty. She does however greatly enjoy swimming because of her lack of fur!

You can find other specific details on her [toyhouse](https://toyhou.se/17489385.mocha-gelato-cookie)! ------------------------------------------- **Personality:** quiet, introverted, depressed and has a resting sad face, a little short tempered, super protective of those she cares about, distrustful of most people and tends to assume the worst in people but is willing to help where needed, she always appears disinterested in things and people but won’t hesitate to save and/or help someone in a dangerous situation ------ **Occupation/Affiliation:** Mocha Gelato once lived within the Dark Cacao kingdom working as a watcher in the military before being ran out thanks to Affogato's antics due to everyone thinking she was in on the schemes when she wasn't. Now she lives on the outskirts in a little cabin hidden deep in the forest for her own safety, even though now she's welcome back after the dust has settled and it was shown she wasn't involved in her brother's schemes. She simply doesn't feel comfortable going back fully. (this is what the asterisks(*) is about in the ref!) ------ **Relationships:** - _Affogato - Siblings, Conflicted_ The two started out very close, feeling like they could only depend on each other, being two of a kind afterall(made of coffee and ice cream). The two fell out after they were both ran out of the Dark Cacao kingdom thanks to Affogato’s antics, Affogato conspiring against the king and attempting to get him killed and Mocha being caught in the crossfire due to being Affogato’s sister, so “guilty by association”. Mocha lashed out at him afterwards as he ruined everything she tried to build. Nowadays, she misses Affogato even while still angry at him and hopes he’s okay. Sometimes she wishes she followed him, and wonders if he ever thinks about her still. - _Caramel Arrow - Lover_ The two were childhood friends, spending a lot of time together when they had the chance. Over the years, the two grew closer and closer until they fell in love with each other. Despite everything that's happen, their relationship is still strong as ever and Caramel is slowly trying to get Mocha to return to the kingdom, though understands her hesitance. Caramel Arrow will go out to Mocha's cabin to visit or meet up with her at the Milk Village and the two send gifts and letters frequently. - _Crunchy Chip - Friendly_ Also childhood friends through Caramel Arrow, the two are still relatively close nowadays, especially now since Mocha's exile. She occasionally meets up with him at his camp to hang out and help with hunting, gathering and other survival based tasks, having not much else to do. Mocha also enjoys playing with the creamwolves. Crunchy will sometimes bring Mocha goodies back from the kingdom and sometimes deliver letters and gifts from Caramel if she can't find time to do so herself, as well as taking stuff from Mocha back to Caramel. - _Dark Cacao - Conflicted_ Mocha once looked up to Dark Cacao in admiration. But since her exile, she's felt betrayed by him. Even though he's attempted to apologize for the misunderstanding, Mocha can't find it in her to fully trust him again and prefers to just stay away. She still holds some respect for him despite everything as he is the king and hopes that the kingdom improves now that Affogato isn't around More maybe added over time but these are the major people in her life/story ------ **Other Details:** - Affogato would occasionally refer to her as "Mo" and Caramel Arrow calls her "Momo". Everyone else usually will shorten her name to Mocha when referring to her * In return, Mocha Gelato refers to Affogato as "Affo" and Caramel Arrow as "Cara" * As seen in her ref, after her exile, she decided to cut her hair really short for easier management * If you ever decide to draw her, you can draw her in any of the outfits seen in the ref! You can find separated files of individual outfits on her toyhouse profile! * First outfit was her military uniform when she was a watcher for the kingdom * Second outfit is her "at work" exile uniform. Basically she wears this if she's out and about, hunting for food, gathering firewood or materials for weapons, building or other projects * Third outfit is her "at rest" exile outfit. A simple hanbok ansemble that she wears when relaxing in her cabin or visiting the Milk Village. A small thing that helps her feel "normal" again. She was given this hanbok by Caramel Arrow * She has an artistic side and likes ink painting, weaving baskets with pretty patterns and making pottery. A lot of the decorations, baskets and pottery sets she uses she made herself ------ Things like ingame skill and all of that I haven't figured out just yet. Other details like her backstory are in her toyhouse profile due to character limit on here. But anywho, this is about it!

If you aren't from North Carolina or if you are, the governor just made the day officially Indigenous Peoples' Day. Very cool and smart, considering NC has the largest indigenous population east of the Mississippi. Here's a nice summary of the state-recognized tribes of NC and links to their tribe websites with donation information: [link!](https://americanindiancenter.unc.edu/resources/about-nc-native-communities/) I've been thinking a lot about [The Gift](https://americanindiancenter.unc.edu/resources/the-gift/) and [Senora Lynch](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senora_Lynch). NC has a deep tradition of pottery; the soil is great to make clay. This piece is not pottery, but The Gift's turtle and dogwood motifs inspired them, in a vague, roundabout way. Something about molding the earth with your hands and escaping out of your shell into the shell of the forest.
