Well, it's been over 2 months since Inkblot 2.0 launched and nothing has changed in terms of functionality. In fact, it might've gotten worse as I thought that the entire site was shut down for good since it always had Network errors whenever I wanted to access it and check up on how things are coming along and it appears that it just came back online out of nowhere. Since the admin's communication for this place's future is nonexistent, I won't be posting anything here anymore! (Not unless Inkblot can pull off a No Man's Sky and revitalize the site and bring it back from the dead, but I don't foresee that happening.) I won't be deleting my account here as there's always a chance for this place to turn around someday and I want to keep an archive of my "journey" here, as short as it was. Oh my god for the last 20 days I thought Inkblot "went live" and broke again because inkblot.art just displays a gray screen like last time. I just assumed it was broken and once again staff were not responding publicly about it in a timely manner like usual. And then I find out just now that it's because the url is beta.inkblot.art now. It was a beast to make, an actual, terrifying nightmare. The background was a pain to do, the main pose was a pain to do, the 6 other characters were a pain to do, existing was a pain to do (still is), but I saw it through the end! This was a commission for the same discord friend as our latest uploaded! He wanted his human pokemon trainer Tag in a pose, ready to go, with all of his team surrounding him. When he said "I want 7 characters for this commission!" I felt the chillest cold that I've ever felt. Of course I said "You got it, boss!" and then spent the next 11 hours of work (Which of course were 90% on the shading) and finally getting it done! Done entirely in Krita with no 3D posing! Ngl it's been a week since the 2.0 release and I'm disappointed to see there still hasn't been a single CLEAR improvement in sight. Idk if the team is still as small as it was before but like. I have to sadly agree with some criticism I've seen on the main page. It's sad to see that a new version of the website was pushed out when it clearly isn't functional, and I'm wondering why the staff decided to revamp it into looking like a mashup of other social media websites like FB and Twt. Reactions?? Rlly?? Why am I still not able to upload a banner and why did it make an independent post the one time it seemed to work? Why did it delete the banner when I tried to hide my post from my timeline??? Why is there a 'followers' tab before my gallery (that's not even called gallery) and why do I have to click a button to see past 6 previews of the most recently posted art? Is this not a website dedicated to art and creative stuff? Why does it not show my gallery proper? Is the activity so damn low on the website rn that it keeps looping to the same things I've been seeing for the past 7 days? Or have people been posting and I don't see anything? And why is it that some users seem to be fine with uploading stuff and others aren't? Maybe I'm just ignorant about the current situation or what the staff is up to but I would've sincerely preferred to wait longer than to face the excitement of a new version, only to immediately eat disappointment. I've always loved the initiative they had in creating a safe space for artists given how most platforms are going to sh!t, but idk man. In any case, I'm going back to my corner on twt, IG and bsky lol. I shall be waiting for news but will stop checking every 2 days if I can upload a banner or simple image 😂
