"I can't answer why, just go with me." Bowie's video for Blackstar is one of the most uncomfortable things I've watched- it's unsettling. I can't place my finger on it. Is it his large, all-knowing grin? Is it the years on years of tidbits from previous videos seeping in, knowing he would pass soon after? Is it the dusty, strangely neutral color palette throughout? Regardless, the video has stuck with me for seven years now. I haven't drawn the Starman in a couple of years, so this seemed like as good a time as any! Really wanted to stick with the angular lines of the first drawing- but goodness, this is not a bright and happy 1997 palette at all, by comparison.
