"When an unhealthy relationship with the clan deputy leads to ostracization and heartbreak, FeatherClan warrior Jacanawing, who wants nothing more than to move on, must learn to navigate the painful and perilous aftermath of living alongside her embittered former mate. This leads to a slew of bad decisions on the part of both, but just as tensions begin to smooth over, a terrible tragedy forces Jacanawing into a new role, and the past becomes a lot more difficult to ignore. Friendships are tested, old rivalries are put aside, and the ghostly whispers of ancient spirits echo in this saga of love and loss."

As a kid I was obsessed with these books, and I'll admit I still catch up with them from time to time now. ;) Back in 2021 I'd wanted to try my hand at mimicking some of the covers (specifically the Polish covers, which are drop-dead GORGEOUS) and this was the result of my experiment! Far from perfect, but I'm still very happy with how it turned out. I had planned on doing more, and maybe I still will, but as of right now I've had my fill of battle cats to last a lifetime. Also, the story was heavily inspired by certain events in my own life that I have long since moved on from and no longer wish to revisit.

That isn't to say I won't revisit these characters at all, however! I just might give them their own independent story instead of basing it on a series I'm no longer very invested in. But who knows? The future is full of endless possibilities!

(P.S., I pronounce Jacanawing's name za-SAH-nuh-wing. A jacana is a type of bird!)
