_"...she acts as something of a quiet defender in the Dark Hour, not bound by any real moral compass aside from an innate desire to avoid conflict herself, which sometimes means removing others from said conflict for her benefit. When tensions run high, however, she is often nowhere to be found, save for the brief flash of a white furred coat-train as she turns tail. When necessary, she can get out of trouble with her charisma, fleeing when her assailant is sufficiently sweet-talked. She is, overall, a very complicated and difficult person with limited patience for others and an apparent lack of deeper connections, yet secretly craves companionship even as she pushes everyone away."

My partner got me obsessed with the Persona series (specifically 3) so I made a character! I tried to mimic the style of some of the official art, and I think I got pretty close! I probably could have done more, but I'm happy with the level of detail here (expect for the shoes, maybe, shoes are still a struggle). I'll probably make a proper ref that shows what the front of her coat looks like, but that'll have to wait until the end of the semester, I don't have a ton of time or energy for any big projects at the moment.

Oldie but a goodie! Definitely one of my favorite paintings from that year, I really feel like I nailed the texture/mood back then. Here's a pat on the back for ya, past me.

"When an unhealthy relationship with the clan deputy leads to ostracization and heartbreak, FeatherClan warrior Jacanawing, who wants nothing more than to move on, must learn to navigate the painful and perilous aftermath of living alongside her embittered former mate. This leads to a slew of bad decisions on the part of both, but just as tensions begin to smooth over, a terrible tragedy forces Jacanawing into a new role, and the past becomes a lot more difficult to ignore. Friendships are tested, old rivalries are put aside, and the ghostly whispers of ancient spirits echo in this saga of love and loss."
As a kid I was obsessed with these books, and I'll admit I still catch up with them from time to time now. ;) Back in 2021 I'd wanted to try my hand at mimicking some of the covers (specifically the Polish covers, which are drop-dead GORGEOUS) and this was the result of my experiment! Far from perfect, but I'm still very happy with how it turned out. I had planned on doing more, and maybe I still will, but as of right now I've had my fill of battle cats to last a lifetime. Also, the story was heavily inspired by certain events in my own life that I have long since moved on from and no longer wish to revisit.
That isn't to say I won't revisit these characters at all, however! I just might give them their own independent story instead of basing it on a series I'm no longer very invested in. But who knows? The future is full of endless possibilities!
(P.S., I pronounce Jacanawing's name za-SAH-nuh-wing. A jacana is a type of bird!)

"One thousand lives she had led, male, female, neither, yet always the same: an upper half, skin fair as the water lilies' petals from which she had first emerged, and a lower half of goat legs, ever pale and soft, but capped with pearly cloven hooves that were wicked when brandished as a weapon, and a long lion's tail that swept calvarymen aside with but a flick..."
Here she is, the bold, the bright, the illustrious Lady Spidersilk! I actually finished her design way back in late March, I just never got around to posting it (or much of anything else) here. That said, the story of the criminal mastermind who is secretly a disgraced god of old has been floating around in my brain for well over five years now, and didn't think to make a character to match it until just this year. I unexpectedly got inspired after I bought a beautiful flower blazer from a thrift shop, and I couldn't resist making a character for it with a wide-brimmed hat to match. Long story short, I realized she was the perfect antihero/villainess for the tale I'd been envisioning for years, and I quickly got to work making the rest of the players in her story. You'll see them all soon!
(Oh, and she's also super super gay and super super tall, you're welcome. :D)

Ahhhh, it feels so good to have a design I like for my fursona, finally! Meet the new Weather Vane, my jersey devil demiboy bat creature (sporting some fancy leg ink)! The butterfly on her ear is her familiar, it's very much alive and goes with her everywhere. Also, Weather uses she/he pronouns (because, well, I do, lol) so feel free to mix it up!
