Virgo is the sixth sign of the Zodiac. Like many constellations, Virgo's origins differ depending on the region and time period. Most of the stories associate Virgo with a virgin maiden, often linked with wheat. In Greek mythology, this association links Virgo with either Demeter, or her daughter Persephone, both goddesses of harvest and seasons. In Egyptian mythology, the time that Virgo was present in the sky was linked with the beginning of the wheat harvest as well.

As with the other figures in this series, my Virgo friends picked the color palette - though this time a person of interest had more influence than others. My spouse happens to be a Virgo! They picked the green and pink, plus the idea for the skirt, which came from "pink and green nebula" when I wasn't sure what to do with the large amount of skirt she has. Just plain neon green was where it started, but it really just felt very plain, so nebula it was! I went though a lot of iterations of the nebula pattern before I was really satisfied.

This is the 4th Zodiac miniature I have painted as I continue my project to paint my way through all the signs over the next year (Originally Posted August 28th, 2022). If you like what you see, check out the other figures in this series, and give me a follow to see the rest of the signs as they come up. I post each one of the first day of their respective signs!
