So… I flew far. Really, really far. In fact, I think I may have gone further than ever this time. Not to worry, though, I know where I am, or, well, I’ll know where I am again tonight. After all, the dots in the sky, the stars! Yes! Every night they tell me exactly where I am, and I’m way past the edges of any map I’ve ever seen.
This place, it’s strange. It’s like no place I’ve seen before. The water here is so warm, so clear, and it’s so full of life. The sun, it’s so strong. It feels incredible across my back, and across my wings it feels absolutely amazing. It rises so high in the sky and it sets so fast. This further confirms it to be true. This world is round after all, and this place is indeed nearing the center of the roundness. Wow, I’ve gone so far! I almost can’t believe it.
But there may have been a problem. There was, for a little while. There’s not much land out here and all this flying makes me quite hungry. I’ll admit, I was a tiny bit worried for a couple days. Thankfully, I found these fish. Big fish! I haven’t a clue what they’re called, but they have this beautiful yellow stripe along their backs. They like to surf the waves and the water is so clear they can be spotted from way up high in the sky. I figured out if I startle them with my wings right as the wave gets ready to fall, they get spooked and jump right out of the water. Maybe I’ll call them Yellow Jumpies. The Yellow Jumpies are hard to catch and it really pushes my flying skills to the limit, but after a bit of practice I think I’m getting the hang of it. It’s not my usual diet, but it’ll do. Besides, this is quite fun.
Tomorrow, I’ll continue. I’ll push myself to fly as long as I can, as far as I can. I wonder what’s beyond the next little island. Will there be another little island? A big island? Will there be more Yellow Jumpies? What if there are no jumpies… no island … what if there’s something else, something … scary. Yes! That’s part of the fun.
