  • Attack on Frostoniaaaaa.

Final attack! Saw this character and couldn't resist painting some stars. The background is based on the Hyades star cluster, which the character is also named after.

  • Also idk if InkBlot is just casually nuking accounts from my followers and following, but those numbers fluctuating every other day is frankly annoying. I can't trust I'm going to see the art and posts from folks I try to follow??

  • Adélie penguins drawn for Polar Lights (2023 February)

Adélie penguins (_Pygoscelis adeliae_) are a common sight along Antarctic coasts and are noted for their curious and bold personalities despite their size.

  • Full illustration done for [Sheer Cold: An Ice-type Pokémon Fanzine](https://sheercoldzine.carrd.co) (2023 February).

I decided to have fun with the rendering to get down something quickly, as I had to finish this piece on limited time; I think this worked in my favour to help convey the rough energy of roaring waves. The constellation overtop is Pyxis Nautica, the mariner's compass.

  • Colossal squid drawn for Polar Lights (2023 March)

The colossal squid (_Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni_) is a rarely seen and relatively unknown cephalopod inhabiting the depths of the Southern Ocean. Like its cousin the giant squid, colossal squid exhibit abyssal gigantism, though the colossal squid is the heavier of the two. It is also the only squid in the family Cranchiidae to have hooks equipped on its arms and tentacles.

  • A pair of cormorants drawn for Sea Unseen, a marine art anthology benefitting the Australian Marine Conservation Society (2022 May).

These double-crested cormorant (_Nannopterum auritum_) are in breeding plumage—the characteristic white feathers that give them their name. Cormorants are frequently seen holding their wings out in this manner to aid in drying their feathers. This is a personal favourite piece of mine.

  • Ah, sorry. Forgot about posting here for a spell again.

Named for the distinct white and brown striped patterning across their body, striped pyjama squid are not actually squid and belong to the family Sepiadariidae of cuttlefish. They are nocturnal foragers, and during the day will bury themselves in sand so that only the top of their head is visible. For added defense, striped pyjama squid are both venomous and poisonous, and will secrete a toxic slime when stressed.

  • Also called the blue dragon sea slug, the blue glaucus is a bright blue and silver nudibranch found in tropical and subtropical waters. They store air bubbles in their stomach to float upside down at the water's surface, foraging for venomous prey such as jellyfish. By eating these creatures, they can ingest their stinging cells and themselves become venomous.

  • Revenge on PurpleAnxiety.

Loved this character's colours and the excuse to draw a raptor. I tried to play around with screentone, but they're not something I use very often so I'll need to experiment more.
