Challenging myself to do a (mostly) human character here.
Cursed by a deity, he now has insect-like chitinous growths on his face and arm.
Due to his appearance most people are afraid of him. He struggles to find work or lodgings, he's often chased out of towns or worse.
He now spends his time alone trying to do what he can to stay alive. He'll sometimes risk talking to people if he thinks they'll have any leads on a cure.
He's not a bad guy, but he is desperate, skittish, and distrustful.
I kind of see him as a character in a rpg. At least that was where my mind was going with working on him. You get a quest to deal with some creature in the woods and its this guy. You fight at first but you can choose to stop. He'll become a companion and you can help him find a cure.
