13. helping - just Cynthia helping out at one of those weird Poke Centers ft. a sweater

( lets be real if Pokemon had a Stardew Valley clone, we'd probably love it )

14. starter - can't have Cynthia without some form of Gible. It might be illegal. So say hello to a regional Gible. Her name is Peregrine. Probably could've met on better terms but oh well

15. new outfit - the aesthetic potential of a bandolier and mask combo only works in theory. In practice, it's probably really impractical unless the Poke Balls just... stick? hook on? magnetize? idk

16. PMD AU - obligatory AU of an AU. PMD brainrot has set in again. let's see how long it lasts. Giratina's involved because of course they are

29. ultra beast - oops, Celesteela's dead. wonder what killed it... on another note, Ultra Beasts are really cool. drawing them is a little less cool, but i think the cool factor outweighs the struggle

30. hug - just a hug, nothing extraordinary

31. future - dusted off an older idea for this one featuring a regional Garchomp. i like the design for the most part, but i'm not 100% on if it needs a little more to make it different. that's a problem for future me


LET'S FRICKIN' GO! 31 days! holy hell, was this a challenge, but i'm glad i did it. i don't think i've ever gotten so much done in a month. very fun, very tough, definitely doing try it again next year, 40/10, absolutely recommend

17. practice - imagine if PLA let you shoot Poke Balls with a bow? That'd be wild and hilarious

18. climb - sometimes you gotta climb a cliff with a child strapped to your back, as one does

19. waterfall - just because you're lost in a new world doesn't mean you can't enjoy the view. won't guarantee that your pet will care tho

20. sketch - needed one lower effort one to pace myself. this is very hard to keep up with. just a little sketch of some tents and a little shrine by a river. it also shows how messy my sketches can get ( edit: really this is a cleaner sketch, imagine a lot more chickenscratch and weird lighting guides and you've got it )

25. attack - that probably hurt a little bit

26. injury - through the power of plot armor, our protagonist survives and the team of lil' guys are taking full advantage of the action economy

27. recover - yay! everyone's alive

28. training - these three get to evolve. Hopefully this means no more close calls :D

1. free space - part of an AU that'll be explained with later posts if I can get through this challenge. Otherwise, I'll just explain it later because it's spoiler. For now, enjoy a regional Gible and my favorite character.

2. temple - chose Sinjoh Ruins because it's important to the AU

3. arceus - i thought redesigning would be more fun than drawing for this one, so I had some fun

4. giratina - same as above, but a little less sure about this one. I might change this one down the line

5. Void - imagine getting eebie deebied by the grim reaper. major skill issue right there.

6. Redesign - so here's the really fun part. it's not that big of a change, but i think it's enough. I decided I wanted to change up Cynthia's hair after seeing Volo's postgame hair. The bits of white at the end of that Arceus cut got me thinking. Tbh, I kinda wish there was more white in his hair, but I guess he ran outta dye for his cosplay or something idk. Either way, it's not explained in-universe why Cynthia's hair grows like that till later in the AU, but Pokemon's weird, so no one's gonna question it for now

7. Distortion World - aaaaannnd we're in hell. great! :D 5 stars on Yelp, great customer service

8. Portal - dunno what you'd have to do to get the literal grim reaper to kick you out of hell, but here we go, i guess

21. meeting - so these two found the grim reaper again. chilling and enjoying being worshipped by a small town. none of the parties involved are particularly amused

22. mission - it seems a pokemon from said small town has conveniently gone missing! It'd definitely be a good quick test of competence and a good word with the locals if a certain someone and their dinosaur pet thing did something about that

23. new friends - they found some friends! :D A pokemon is still missing, but... priorities, y'know?

24. alpha - seems the little Pokemon was found! But a new friend found them too. Surely, this one just wants to say hello and isn't dangerous at all

9. cave - dunno where Giratina dropped this one but it's certainly somewhere. it's a shame it's without supplies or a team of Pokemon. That might be bad. Maybe. Probably.

10. lost - no service, but maybe Giratina tricked out the phone? idk this is probably all getting retconned when Poketober is done. doing this daily is making this a mess lmao

11. forest - so Legends: Arceus has me thinking: Pokemon are dangerous even if you have a team. If you don't? I'd run like hell, too. also, say hi to a few new regional forms i thought would be cool. we've got Archen, Shellos, and Litwick

12. poke center? - i wanted to attempt a poke center design and then realized i like never draw buildings. gotta draw more, i guess. also, why don't poke centers have berry gardens? these things grow in like 3 days, so at the very least, they'd be good for emergency supplies, right? also, solar panels because clean energy is cool


gonna be real, this is a lot. I'm having fun, but wow. It's kinda weird finishing stuff. This is definitely teaching me to just keep moving and just call a piece done when it's done enough. mad props to anyone doing anything Inktober related. this is not easy and ideas are hard. i've been thumbnailing days in advance just to keep up because i am slow. These take like 4-5 hours apiece on a good day, if that gives an idea
