• I'm slowly getting back into the Sonic fandom but more into fan characters along with canon characters(i.e. Sally Acorn, Amy Rose, etc.) and recently came up with this character.

I was reading The Book of Faeries by Francis Melville recently(I bought that book in mid 2000's) again and that's when I got an inspiration. Why not make Sonic FC's based on mythical creatures or even better, mix them up with certain animals? Since my fursona is a Faerie Lynx(I do need to update my Sonic FC version of my fursona) I figured that I should do the same on my future Sonic FC's.

I created Atlantiea, a Dryad Doe Deer. My reasons for picking this animal because I was watching Disney's Bambi couple weeks ago on Amazon and since deer and stags are known for being spirit forest animals, it makes perfect sense for the environment. Since she's a female deer, she doesn't have antlers like males do(I'll get around to draw them as well, including the male leader stag based on Bambi's father).

The name I came up for is from a Greek Hamadryad nymph https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlanteia

Dryads are tree nymphs aka forest faeries or tree spirits. They would turn into human appearances but most of the time, they're in form of trees. Atlantiea and her fellow Dryads would turn themselves into trees to hide themselves out from outsiders hence why no one was able to see them and believed that they are just myths.

Atlantiea's design was based on Earth Element's doll maker flash game. I had to make some minor changes to her.

I'll post more info of her soon since she's in development stage. I also didn't use any pose references either.

I'll get around to color her soon.

  • Female Variant of the Crested Jaguar, a Creature I designed for my worldbuilding project in University of 2020, also a current encounter for my DnD Campaign project!

    ------

_''Crested Jaguars are a very large mammal from the genus ‘ Panthera’, named for their large fin-like crests either side of their necks and large rosettes covering most of their body. Some can say they resemble a large hybrid between a peacock and a leopard due to their colouration and feathered fan tail. Sexual Dimorphism in the sexes are extreme. Females are generally much smaller compared to the males, reaching 6ft at the shoulder. Their pelt colour is a selection of browns, faun and oranges, while their skull shape is more round and short compared to their male counterparts. The males are much larger and stockier than the females, at 8ft at the shoulder, their coats are generally a mix of blues, greens and orange, with a large peacock-like tail feather. A male’s coat colour is most likely used for attracting mates, though this is a theory as this species is very elusive and a live male has not been seen in person in about 100 years.

A Crested Jaguar’s limbs make it adept to climbing, crawling and swimming, their skulls are robust and the jaw extremely powerful, rumored to be able to pierce through even the strongest of armour, which makes these cats incredibly dangerous and deadly.

Their range is very limited in the valley of Roanoak, usually a large male will have a large territory with several females in. Arcgate ruins is said to be the home to a large male for years, the individual is so elusive it has been described as being mythical, a silly urban legend to tell at bedtime stories. However, evidence such as prints, claw marks and scat have been found, proving it is indeed real. Though no one has been brave enough to venture into the ruins.''

  • My next mythical creature. Basically a nocturnal jaguar/otter hybrid with webbed feet and no ears from Patagonia. Of course I got something to do with wet fur again; though, I guess most of that detail became hard to see in the end -_-.

More birds? More birds. This is Aquila, Aquarius’s companion and fellow bolt slinger! The constellation is based on the eagle that would bring Zeus his lightning bolts, and considering Aquarius’s weather / storm theming, that seemed like a good fit. I also took inspiration from the mythical thunderbird for similar reasons.

I haven’t figured out all of the size relations between the cast yet, but I picture her as a large bird that could carry others on her back while flying, which I suppose ties into her aviator theming as well. A melding of concepts, this one! I really leaned in on the angular shape language this time, aha.

Her colour scheme is, admittedly, the kind I use the least in my work, so I second guessed myself a lot on her palette while making this. ^^’ If I use green at all, it’s usually more on the blue-green side rather than yellow-green, and any time I use yellow it’s either an accent or on the yellow-orange side. Still, this does help round out the colour selection of the cast a bit! I’ve got quite the rainbow going at this point. xD Only one more companion to go!

The constellation symbol for Aquila was originally designed by Denis Moskowitz and released to the public domain. https://www.suberic.net/~dmm/astro/constellations_t.html

**Please don't steal and resubmit/repost my works without my permission! thanks!**

I havent forgotten a comic Idea I had in mind and will try drawing these two out more whenever I have time, at the time when i drew this I didnt have a name yet for the comic, but now I do as I call it KirinUnity. I'm also a sucker for sun and moon theme anything [_mainly character designs or such_] , not to mention fantasy mythic creatures. why not also input school theme too. [_im sorry i like school themed stories_]

of course this comic project will have bit of slice of life but also action in it too as far as I'm aware. I'm excited to share it with you guys on arts and more with these two and characters involve in the story.
