Crow's Feather is the weapon of the Nordlandian demigoddess Freykja, Queen of Feathers, Mistress of the Second Moon, Champion of the Winter Omen. She was the first (and only) female champion of Haltyr, the god of war and primary god of the Nordlanders. The weapon was forged and gifted to her by Eldrod Hugsmídur, thought to be the most skilled backsmith to ever live. Freykja and Haltyr eventually fell in love, and she became so powerful that she is now considered a demigoddess.
Freykja earned her power, as Haltyr does not give favors, not even to his lover. He only rewards those who put in the effort, who show strength, courage and fairness in battle. However, due to her state as his lover, many people, who were envious of her, accused her that she only became so powerful because she was Haltyr's concubine. This greatly insulted her pride and she decided to end the relationship with Haltyr, so she could no longer be accused of sleeping herself to the top. However, this, in turn, hurt Haltyr's pride, and he did the one thing he himself never accepted from his champions - he acted on emotions rather than rationality. He purged Freykja's story. People would no longer tell stories or sing songs about her, she became lost to history and was mostly forgotten. Today few stories about her remain, and the only ones still remembering her are the members of the Krárakyn, the Crow Clan who eventually begun to worship her instead of Haltyr.
Although Haltyr tried to reconcile with Freykja several times, after his purging her from history, she refused any attempts. Haltyr, on the other hand, decided to never again accept a woman as his champion in fear of repeating his mistake. Unfortunately, this lead to a divide among Nordlandian men and women. While both genders are typically equal in their society, the fact that women can't be champions lead to the widespread belief that they are generally inferior to men in combat.

After all the issues I had with the Wanderman's Axe, but it can be found on my Artstation profile), I needed to so something that I knew wouldn't cause me any issues. Originally I intended to give the blade an actual feather-like structure, but that would have been difficult to model again, and it would likely also impede the blade's ability to cut. So I decided to go for a feather damast pattern instead.
