She’d been walking and documenting the fauna and flora on her way for quite a few days now and, thanks to her somewhat lacking planning, she had some trouble finding her way back to camp. This also meant that her supplies were running low and she’d have to look for something to tide her over. Food wasn’t an issue as she was keenly aware of what around her was edible or not, but water? Water was an issue. Cleanliness wasn’t the problem thanks to this forest being home to dryads but she’d be exposed at the water’s edge. And so she found herself here, in front of a pond, contemplating what she should do. Her mind was half made up to just try her luck and head back to camp when an extra bit of doubt about her ability to find it in time crept into her mind. Combined with the dry feeling of her mouth, she thought “Screw it” and rushed to the rim of the pond. She’d have to be fast about this. Thankfully, the water’s crystal clear reflection let her keep a certain amount of attention to her surroundings. As she bent down towards the surface, she hesitated. She could have sworn the leaves of the mega-tree above her had moved. Then again, it could have just been the wind. There are strong gales at their great height after all… She’d have to speed up. But just as she cusped the water in her hand to bring it to her lips, the leaves began to move again to reveal themselves as a person. A giant. Before she had even truly processed this, a long tongue sprung forth from the camouflaged being and that’s when she realised she’d end up in a stomach. As food. ----------------------------------------------------- Whooo I really took on a few too many challenges in this piece but nonetheless, I like how it came out and I hope you guys do too! It is not only one of the year's most anticipated events, but also one of the oldest. Its origin dates back to before the Cataclysm. It is a festival of communion, sharing, and appreciation. Wealth and status are set aside each year as families make diligent preparations in advance to honor the ascended. Many Atreians make their travel to their capital citys to immerse themselves in the festivities. One of such is to get a good share of the seasonal foods as gingerbread, filled cookies and pay a visit to the world-renowned bakers of Sanctum and Pandaemonium with their impressive cakes whose recipes are kept secret throughout all this time. Though for many Asmodians, where travel is unthinkable, more humble solutions will do, saving up for this very season and for their families and community to enjoy self baked goods and big portions. One of such, is Roast Slink, optional varnished with Kikra Sauce to compliment the season. For this, freshly hunted Slink will be firmly cleaned, before braised with hot water, so the outer film of moist skin can be easily shed. Roasted whole over an open fire, till reaching the desired color of a good roast, the head will be cut off and used together with the bone and cartilage used for purposes. The skin will be plated, same as the finer shredded meat parts, followed by the forged tail tips, legs, rib and prime back meat. Delicious with its mild flavor and a texture most similar to Qooqoo wings. The taste and texture of Slink meat is approximately between Qooqoo and fish, most similar to catfish like Pujery. It also doesn't turn out rubbery, as Monitor can turn out, if prepared poorly. The succulent, juicy meat works great on its own, but as a season special, Kira Sauce is a really nice compliment, by color and its not too sweet or tart. im so eepy zzz..zzzz.... I haven't been able to draw since I'm fully busy moving to a different household and doing (fullfilling) garden work, cleaning up old apartment, preparing for an interail trip with mom in like 2 weeks, worrying if I'm gonna keep my job or not and a bunch of other personal stuff, etc.etc. ..... Doing way better now after some other stuff etc. more rambling, lol but this was a fun little thing to do, I'm looking forward what Inkblot will come up next April ^^ Craving some nuggies with sweet n sour sauce now... #GetWeird #DinoNuggies

Nicolas stepped outside his pet store mumbling to himself about how hot it was today. Of all the days to have to do a full clean on the reptile cages, he had to pick the day with triple digit temperatures! As he busied himself taking out several bags of dirty bedding and towels, he caught something out of the corner of his eye. Paling a little, he realized what he saw was not human. He had no idea what it was but tossed the trash as quickly as possible and then double-timed it back to his store... But before he could get there, something popped and whizzed passed his shoulder. He spun around to see a Rifter staring him down from about 100 feet away. He jumped into his shop and slammed the door, panicking a moment before he realized he should transform and take care of the Rifter before anyone got hurt. Transforming, he steeled himself for a battle he didn't want to have on this boiling hot day... Stepping back outside the shop, Hydrus looked around to see some people in the distance walking on the crosswalk... but no Rifter. Kind of relieved, he turned to go back to his shop when he felt himself crumple to the ground, arms catching a leg and foot in his abdomen. Looking up, he saw her, Lilium the Rifter, curling her lips into a devious smile. He pushed back against her leg and did his best to stand up, but the kick to his stomach caused him to take a knee. Flying back in with guns blazing, Lilium took aim but just before she could shoot, Hydrus had her by the arm and landed a punch to her face, knocking her back for a moment. Then Hydrus, seizing the opportunity, stared at Lilium with his Petrifying Gaze and temporarily petrified her. With her stopped for the moment, he gritted his teeth and stood up, the pain from his stomach screaming at him... He coughed and then screamed out, "Hydro Serpent Slap!" A water snake arose from behind him and just as the petrification wore off, Lilium was tumbled backwards from the force of Hydrus' attack. When the water cleared, Lilium was gone...
