• Not sure if I'd posted my Chickadee before. It's been a while, I've had a lot of stuff going on in my personal life that has kept me from making art and posting, but I'm working on getting back at it.

INPRNT is having a sale again, and I've got some of my Floral and Mushroom dragons available. If you like my artwork, please consider taking a look, it means a lot.

I'm also available for commissions. Feel free to contact me if interested.

  • I didn't know what to paint so my spawn told me to paint a small round bird.  Well black-capped Chickadees are a small round bird.  So here is Fattius Borbius.  Watercolors

  • Chickadee,
Watercolor paint, Prismacolor pencils, Windsor and Newton gouache on 5x7 strathmore cold press paper

I've been wanting to do more studies of birds, and I thought a chickadee would be a good place to start again. I wanted to see how effectively I could paint one in at least a semi-realistic sense, and I feel like I learned a good bit about lighting and how to paint feathers from it. I think the eyes came out pretty well on this too.

Process photos are available on my Patreon:

  • This design was especially fun for me as I wanted to branch out into designs of animals that live around my hometown and on my traditional territory. Chickadees are pretty common, especially in more mountainous areas.
