I'm giving up on Inkblot.

I'm disappointed. This was a really interesting project, and I was excited to support it. With DeviantART an AI wasteland, I was eager to find another gallery site that supported NSFW content, and IB fit that bill perfectly. But lately it's just been constant delays and weeks on end with no movement or updates from the team, and my patience has run dry. I've left the Discord server and cancelled my Substack subscription.

This account will remain, though, in the off chance that things turn around and this place prospers once again. And truly, I hope it does. I have no quarrel with Jay or the IB team and I truly do hope they work to become more active and make this place what it was meant to be. But, in the meantime, I feel my time is best spent supporting other projects.

Years back in 2019 I'd decided to do some artwork of a Foden Alpha which is based off of a Truck that was made by a U.K. Truck Manufacturing Company which was founded by Edwin Foden in 1887 that started building Steam Powered Vehicles and would switch to diesel engine power in the 1930's and later by the 1980's the company would be a member of PACCAR Inc and would be later absorb into DAF Trucks and Foden was phased out and retired by 2006, the last Foden Truck to rolled off from the Foden Trucks assembly line which was a Foden Alpha 3000 ending the 150 years of Truck Building for Foden, the company would be replace by Leyland and DAF Trucks. #Vehicle #Semi #Truck #Foden

Considering we waited almost a year to only be greeted with a Facebook clone that hasn't even been reworked into being an art site, I don't think I will ever resume posting here. Ngl it's been a week since the 2.0 release and I'm disappointed to see there still hasn't been a single CLEAR improvement in sight.
Idk if the team is still as small as it was before but like. I have to sadly agree with some criticism I've seen on the main page.

It's sad to see that a new version of the website was pushed out when it clearly isn't functional, and I'm wondering why the staff decided to revamp it into looking like a mashup of other social media websites like FB and Twt. Reactions?? Rlly??

Why am I still not able to upload a banner and why did it make an independent post the one time it seemed to work? Why did it delete the banner when I tried to hide my post from my timeline???
Why is there a 'followers' tab before my gallery (that's not even called gallery) and why do I have to click a button to see past 6 previews of the most recently posted art? Is this not a website dedicated to art and creative stuff? Why does it not show my gallery proper?
Is the activity so damn low on the website rn that it keeps looping to the same things I've been seeing for the past 7 days? Or have people been posting and I don't see anything?
And why is it that some users seem to be fine with uploading stuff and others aren't?

Maybe I'm just ignorant about the current situation or what the staff is up to but I would've sincerely preferred to wait longer than to face the excitement of a new version, only to immediately eat disappointment. I've always loved the initiative they had in creating a safe space for artists given how most platforms are going to sh!t, but idk man.

In any case, I'm going back to my corner on twt, IG and bsky lol. I shall be waiting for news but will stop checking every 2 days if I can upload a banner or simple image

sorry to ride the criticism train, but this site is really giving stock social media site with inkblot's name slapped on it, it's honestly creeping me out a little

what bothers me mostly is how it doesn't at all feel focused on art anymore - you're encouraged to say "what's on your mind" with attachments as an afterthought. the wording of "photos" over "art"? reactions? (genuine question: do people like emoji reaction systems? they're fun on discord, but it feels... odd here (and to state the obvious, very facebook)) and why do profile galleries come after FOLLOWERS? what's the point of an art website where it feels that people's galleries are being hidden away? with all due respect, the redesign has a lot of things that just feel wrong about it

New Version Number who dis?

I'm lowkey just waiting for *any* deviantArt-like: (Inkblot, Artfol, SheezyArt, Cara) to make artists STOP *ONLY* posting onto general-purpose, timeline-only sites.

It's harder to go through and consume a lot of art on those.

Not used to the Facebook-y UI of Inkblot 2.0, as… I've been a chronic and intentional Facebook avoider all my life, but we'll see.

I've been thinking about this for a bit, but many of the design choices that came with this 2.0 update are... baffling, to say the least? The site is actually usable now (it barely worked for me before), but it feels like another Facebook/Twitter clone, rather than an art site. I'll continue to observe how things develop but I'm not sure I'm convinced yet.

I also wanted to test uploading art here but I quite literally can't, I get an error every time.

This time I tried to construct more of a scene ahead of time. I’m still trying to get there with backgrounds. This one of the SFW part of my cycle, is of Frelly and Qian together as one of the many couples I might draw.

Frelly and Qian stood together in the docks of the Floating Archipelago, a city scattered among sky islands in a relatively calm border region in the Plane of Air. The city connected to a few other worlds across the planes, where the Tiefling couple were among some of the visitors that walked its streets. Perhaps what was most appealing about the Floating Archipelago was that it had a warm and mild climate, unlike the storms and constant hurricanes found in many other places across the Plane of Air.

“We’re catching this ferry to the Janni Island,” Frelly said as she held on to Qian’s arm as the a ramp unfolded down onto the ferry that just docked.

“What are we doing with a bunch of Air Genasi?” Qian asked hesitantly, as he stepped on to the ramp.

“To see the Wind Dancers in action, and to find ourselves a good airship captain for the other part of the journey.”

“That might be a bit difficult, as I got myself in some trouble the last time I was here with Kess and Thames.” Qian pondered for a moment about what the implications might be. “Let’s say we didn’t leave the best impression with the Cloud Kings, the gang that rules that part of town.”

“Were you being a little fecker about it?”

“Just a bit, I’m pretty sure they won’t try to shoot us on sight at least.”

“And to think this was going to be a boring trip, but I don’t think it was only you.”

“You're right about that, it wasn’t completely about me. It was more about these two girls, twins, that I shagged, who happened to be the daughters of a big Cloud King boss. And I somehow got into a fight with a bunch of Cloud Kings when they walked in on us.” Qian looked at Frelly, as she spread her wings and glared at him, looking like she was ready to pounce.

“Oh for ****’s sake! Am I going to have to give you spanking later on?”

“Maybe, I just hope there aren’t any other surprises. Kess and Thames also got in some fights with the Cloud Kings too.”

“This might be a long ferry ride, me love,” as Frelly took a seat on the main deck of the ferry.

“Enough of that, we’re still on vacation, let’s enjoy the view.”

Frelly kissed Qian on the lips, “Whatever would I do without you? You need to show me what you did with those girls, as I think there’s still a spanking you still need to get.”

I just want to shoutout the developers of this place. It looks absolutely wonderful and I'm stoked to see how this develops from here!! You're all doing great.

NGL after 4 years it looks like a combination of Twitter and Facebook. I thought it was gonna be like old DA and more suited for artists? There’s no gallery, just a photo page like Facebook. The more I explore this site the more I’m turned off by it.

What happened and why?

I liked the other layout better.
