• It had been only a year and a half since she'd left her homeland of Tír na nÓg, but it somehow felt much longer than that to Keeva. She didn’t hate this strange land she was now forced to live within; Hadreon was rather nice, all things considered, but it wasn’t her home.

This sense of loss bothered her in the very beginning, of course, but she could push those thoughts and feelings aside for a time. The longer she found herself away, however, the harder it became to ignore the aching feeling that had made a home of its own within her.

This was further worsened by Lan. She knew that he could feel what she did through their link as summoner and eidolon, at least to some extent. It was obvious he was trying to help her as much as he could. He would listen, distract her, keep her moving and her mind on other things. It only did so much, however. Eventually it seemed to Keeva that he’d grown tired of it. He wished to be unfettered from her, he would say. Keeva, of course, would oblige to these requests, although it did not come without an even sharper ache within her as the link that bound their lifeforce to one another shattered for a time.

_He just wants to be happy_, she thought to herself, smiling despite the loneliness. _I can’t deny him that._

With each request to sever their link it became harder for her to say yes, especially in those horrifying instances where he failed to return to her in time. When she felt what little connection they did have remaining snap completely, that loneliness consumed her utterly until he finally recovered from as close to death as an eidolon could reach. There were a handful of times where she did finally deny his wishes, but after seeing how distraught Lan became… she had to relent.

She wanted him to be happy, she honestly did, but why did he want to leave her so often? Although he seemed eager to talk with her when they were together, his own thoughts and feelings were significantly more guarded than her own. She didn’t know what he truly felt.

She thought about asking why, but decided against it. It felt easier not to know.

There eventually came a day where Lan, after returning much sooner than usual, seemed almost bursting with excitement.

“I have something I want to show you!”

Keeva was suspicious, but before she could say anything, he had swept her off her feet and flew away as fast as his mighty wings would allow. He dipped into the forest as soon as he spotted an entrance large enough within the branches. Farther and farther into the woods they swiftly flew, bursts of stray sunshine shining through the canopy of leaves acting as their guiding light. After a while, he slowed to a stop, landing in front of a strange archway of silvery-green leaves. Keeva gave him a curious look that seemed to make Lan even more giddy with excitement.

“Go in!” he said, carefully setting her down on the ground. “It’s safe, I promise.”

Her curiosity got the better of her. Keeva walked forward through the arch of leaves, which seemed to quiver as she passed by. It seemed almost to be a hallway, continuing on and on, twisting every so often until she had no idea which way she was facing. She gave a wary glance behind her to Lan, who merely grinned widely in response.

Finally, she saw what appeared to be the end of this passage, the suns’ light shining brightly on the other side. She stopped once she reached the edge of the leaves and stared with wide eyes, uttering a small sound of surprise.

It was as if a piece of home were lifted and dropped within this little clearing. Flowers of all kinds littered the ground, climbing up into the large trees that acted almost as walls. An abundance of color lay everywhere one looked. She lifted a hand as she passed underneath one of the more willowy trees, lightly brushing through the strands of purple leaves and flowers that dangled delicately from the low-hanging branches. She walked as if in a daze and sat herself in the middle of the blue-green grass where the flowers were small and seemed to dance in a gentle breeze that could not be felt. Lan joined her, seeming pleased with himself.

There were no words shared between them as they sat. It was the pleasant kind of quiet where you felt warm and safe, no cares in the world to weigh you down.

“I could feel you were homesick,” he finally said with a soft smile. “It took me a while, but… I hope what I found is worth the pain I put you through.”

She leaned against him, resting her head against his arm as she settled into a hug.

    “Thank you.”

  • “Stables?” Eddie looked around as he lit the lantern in the entryway. “What are we, teenagers?”

“I thought you were some kind of outlaw.” Patch walked over to where his pair of king quail were stalled and patted each of their heads. “Aren’t you used to roughing it?”

“Of course!” Eddie blustered. “But sleeping in a great itchy stack of hay is hardly what I’d call…” he trailed as Patch yawned and stretched his back. “Oh, yer tired.” he said slowly. “That’s fine! I uh, I’ll get something together.” he turned away feeling his face burning. Had he gotten his signals crossed after all? Maybe Patch really was just looking for a place to crash. He started to gather up some saddle blankets and cold weather rugs but stopped when he felt a hand on his shoulder.

“Eddie.” Patch grinned. “What do you think is happening here?”

Eddie’s smile fluctuated in confusion. “What do… YOU think is happenin’ here?”

Patch chuckled and shook his head. “You don’t need to try so hard, I already like you.” he stepped forward and Eddie found himself leaning against the stable wall, completely captivated by Patch’s soft brown eyes as he leaned in close enough for their noses to touch.

Eddie’s curly fury fluffed up excitedly and he closed the distance between them, hugging his arms around Patch’s back while his felt Patch’s wrap snugly around his neck. He steered away from the stable wall as Patch stepped backwards into an empty stall and soon had the white buck pinned gently against the back of the stall wall. Eddie stopped kissing him only long enough to shut the stall door behind them, then Patch’s hands gripped his collar and tugged him down onto the hay on top of him.

  • _Vauruk grinned: the dragonborn was dead to rights. Lying in the sand, soaking in the sun. Ripe for a nap!_

_"The warrior ascends into the heavens; he flies among the crowd—are you not entertained?—and beneath him, Golalud's slow to rise—what's it going to be, here it comes; OHHH the diving knee sends shockwaves through the arena! Sand flying everywhere! And Golalud: I can't quite make it out! Is it over?"_

_Breathing hard, Vauruk stood. The beating of his heart heralded the drums of victory, and he allowed himself to bask in the roar of the crowd. No way Kaldov was getting up after that!_

This is a page from a comic that wolfmirage(https://inkblot.art/profile/wolfmirage) and I did for ArtFight 2023. It stars my bat boy Vauruk the Formidable and wolfmirage(https://inkblot.art/profile/wolfmirage)'s Kaldov Golalud. We intend to upload the pages of this series cooperatively, alongside the accompanying writing, over the next few days. The content will include violence and mild gore, and pages containing the latter will be tagged as such when warranted.

  • Read The Arrogance of Man here: www.fimfiction.net/story/22083…

The group continued on their way to find the Elements. It wasn't long until they came towards a welcoming sight, among of all of the misfortunes and dangers they've ran into. There stood the remains of an old ruin, not too far ahead among the mists.

"We made it!" Twilight joyfully announced. She broke off into a sprint, eager to reach their destination.

"Twilight, wait for us!" Applejack called, as the rest of the group followed in pursuit.

"We're almost there!" Twilight cried, but her joy was quickly dashed away.

The elf suddenly noticed that she was near the edge of a cliff, and the bridge was down. Twilight skidded to a halt, but stopped dangerously close to the edge. She wildly flailed her arms in a vain attempt to keep her footing. She exclaimed as she felt herself beginning to fall forward. Twilight then felt her arm grabbed. She yelped as she was yanked by a strong force, pulling her away from the edge.

Twilight grunted as her face pressed against a cotton surface, held in a tight embrace. Twilight panted, her eyes wide from her trauma. As her adrenaline settled, her breaths became calm. She looked up to her rescuer, finding Junior. He was slightly panting, holding her tightly away from the cliff.

"Cutting it a bit too close," said Junior. Twilight gasped as she felt the racing heart in the boy's chest. Her face began to flush, feeling the security of his strong arms. It was a surprise to realize the tone of his muscles beneath the thick hoodie that he wore.

"Ooh~." Pinkie grinned. Junior and Twilight noticed the stares from the rest of the girls. Junior quickly released Twilight, allowing her to step away, her face flushing red hot.

"Uh... You good?" asked Junior awkwardly. Twilight timidly nodded, avoiding his gaze.

    "Mmhmm. Thanks..." stuttered Twilight.

"So... what's with you and falling off cliffs today?" asked Rainbow smirking. Twilight moaned in embarrassment at the comment.

  • Your heart froze as you stopped in your steps, or at least what left of it. The searing pain burns your chest as you looked down to your chest before back up to your companion. With only one word and thought running through your mind, "...Why"

The kobold stopped as she turned her head toward you, her gun slowly cooling down from her shot.

"Why?" She grinned, pocketing the weapon in her coat, "You were just a mean to a end. The means of getting my revenge"

She softly said the last line as she looked toward the large door in front of her, slowly opening as the cold robotic army slowly powered up from their deep slumber.

Fun fact, this was technically a rare vent art from myself, hahaha. But I do still like how it looks.
