Now that Soka's favorite jumbo beach ball has popped, he looks as though he's about to cry.

Drawing the jumbo beach ball flat was a task within itself, but I did what I could to emphasize it being flat by adding wrinkles to certain spots. I think the results turned out well in my opinion.

Here's the second page of my little story of Soka and his favorite jumbo beach ball! After 1 year has passed, he's evolved into a Dewott and his jumbo beach ball is still going strong! He sure loves to bounce on this thing, that's for sure!

  • After a long day of playing with their lovely jumbo beach ball, Sylveon decided to hop on top of it and take a nap. Surprisingly, it makes for a very comfortable bed too, perfect for nap time.

I honestly didn't think I'd be able to put this together at all! Considering that this was done using Krita on my old school laptop, which is slow AF, just running Windows 10 by itself, it's a pretty big accomplishment for the little laptop that could! The reason why I used my laptop is that my primary desktop PC broke on me recently, again, and it's out for repairs...again! I also didn't want to use my Amazon Fire Tablet as that is not only slow too, (albeit, not as slow as my laptop, but still sluggish.) but Krita isn't available on the Amazon Fire Tablet without modifications or sideloading the app. Plus, the only "good" drawing program on offer isn't good enough for my needs as its stabilizer is far too weak for my unsteady hand and horrendous handwriting. Not only that, but the software is a little buggy with its group layers. Regardless, I wanted to make this work somehow and thankfully, I did.

Despite the slow performance, I had fun drawing Sylveon and their jumbo beach ball! When it came to getting the pose I needed, I winged it for the most part. I had never seen a Sylveon sleeping in the Superman pose as seen with dogs in real life so, I figured that Sylveon would look cuter if I drew them like this. I'm not sure if Sylveons have paw pads or not, so I figured that I'd give them some, just to be safe. I read Sylveon's biology section on Bulbapedia and it didn't mention anything about them having paw pads. Regardless if they have them canonically or not, they turned out great here, in my opinion. I also really loved how the Love Ball jumbo beach ball turned out as I had a lot of fun playing with the shading effects by changing brush styles from Normal to Screen, Multiplay, Overlay, etc all throughout the ball and Sylveon itself, especially when used in combination with a regular digital pen brush and the airbrush! Chef's kiss!

Funny enough, I originally planned on drawing something else. But, after going out to see a movie with Mom one day, returning home, and then scrolling through Twitter, I got an idea for a new drawing and decided to draw this instead. I still plan on finishing the other one, but that'll be done another time. (Unless it's published before this one goes live, in which case, this is completely irrelevant.) It's funny how things can change on a whim, depending on circumstances that occur, am I right.

One year has passed since Soka became a Dewott and now, he has evolved into a Samurott and is ready to bounce on his favorite jumbo beach ball once more.

Drawing Samurott wasn't easy as, much like with Servine, there aren't too many official pieces of art for this Pokemon. Regardless of the lack of references out there outside of fan art, I worked with what I had to draw him as best as I could, considering the pose I wanted to do with him. Even so, this took me a while to put together as Samurott is a complicated creature to draw. It was still fun to pull off though.

I'm making a short story involving Soka the Oshawott and his jumbo beach ball over the years and this is the first of several pages I'll be working on overtime. When more pages are made, I'll be sure to link them here so that you can view the full story when it finishes eventually.

When it came to making this, it took some time to figure out the right perspective for Soka in relation to his jumbo beach ball, but I'm very pleased with the results. I was going to try adjusting him after I finished shading him, but after attempting to do so, he looked flat and so, I stuck with what I had. The lake in the background was originally going to be the sky, but after seeing with the default Water Stamp brush in Krita could do, I changed my mind on the spot and I'm glad I did! The lake turned out great, especially after I added sunlight via, the airbrush tool! (Man, I love the airbrush so much, if you couldn't tell.) Taking what I've learned about transparency from one of my previous art pieces, [Snivy's Balloon Adventure](https://www.deviantart.com/therealgeneralsnivy/art/Snivy-s-Balloon-Adventure-914508289), I applied the same sort of techniques with the transparent stripes on Soka's jumbo beach ball.

Speaking of the beach ball, this allowed me to redeem myself as I was able to draw a closed valve this time as opposed to the last beach ball I drew which I couldn't do before. After I finished drawing the jumbo beach ball, I realized that it sort of looked like the Quick Ball, but it's a Jumbo beach ball, which I found to be really neat. (The obvious difference is that the ball has transparent stripes, while the Quick Ball doesn't as it's mostly solid blue all around.)

This was a lot of fun to put together as Oshawott is my 2nd favorite Pokemon next to Snivy and I really wanted to draw them again! Hope you are all looking forward to the eventual continuation of this short story! Enjoy!

A few days later, Soka's trainer took him to the lake where he first received his jumbo beach ball and gave him a special gift. This gift is to celebrate the 3-year anniversary of when Soka and his trainer began their journey. This gift is a brand new ball. This ball is special as it is made for Pokemon like Samurott as it's a lot more durable, it can hold Soka's weight no problem and he can bounce on it as much as he wants without fear of popping it. (Plus, it's way bigger too.) And judging by the look on Soka's face, he absolutely loves it and he can't thank his trainer enough for their kindness. The ball itself was very expensive, but it was worth it to see Soka's happy face once again after his jumbo beach ball popped a few days prior.

And with that, that brings the end of this short little story. This was fun to make all the way through and I gained some valuable experience making this, from drawing the Oshawott family line, to transparency, and creases for inflatable objects. This series brought with it, its own series of challenges for drawing all assets in various positions, but were well worth it in the end, in my opinion. Thanks for reading.

There are additional details that go along with this description. However, I cannot include them due to the 2000-character limit. If you're interested in learning how I drew this, [you can read up on it here on my DeviantArt.](https://www.deviantart.com/therealgeneralsnivy/art/Soka-the-Samurott-and-his-new-favorite-ball-page-4-918227110)

POV: Goodra wants to play catch with you at the beach. Would you play with her?

This took a couple of days to finish as IRL things prevented me from completing this within a timely manner. Regardless, I'm very happy with the way this turned out and it was a lot of fun to draw. I tried to draw a closed valve for Goodra's jumbo beach ball, but I couldn't do so without it looking bad, so I did what I could to make it look decent. Goodra herself was a bit of a challenge as I screwed up the scaling a few times when drawing her head and body, but I managed to correct them by rescaling/transforming them after drawing each piece. I might've drawn Goodra's arm a bit too big, but I wanted to emphasize her holding the beach ball.

Speaking of the beach ball, I attempted to add creases to emphasize her gripping it, but wasn't 100% sure of which parts to add the creases to. After adding them, I'm very happy with the way I added the extra bit of details to this art piece as I feel it makes it stand out that much more and makes it more complete. As for the ball itself, I was originally going to make it a regular ball, but I got the idea of turning it into a jumbo beach ball after I finished drawing Goodra. I also wanted to add some transparent stripes to the ball just for the fun of it and after seeing the end result, it was worth it in my opinion.

Overall, this was fun to draw and I'm surprised that I was able to do so much with the default brushes in Krita. Goodra was challenging due to scaling, but was fun to do, one of the most fun Pokemon I've drawn, despite it being the first time I've ever drawn it. The jumbo beach ball was also fun to draw and the extra details I added were worth the effort. The background itself didn't take too long to make either as I had an idea of how to go about it and having a stock beach photo for reference really helped with its completion.

Soka is now crying as he realizes that his favorite jumbo beach ball is beyond repair and can never be played with again. Despite this, this isn't the end of this short story yet.

I am aware that I could've just changed Soka's facial expression and called it a day, but I wanted to do something more than that and took on the challenge of redrawing his head, just so that I could move it and make it look as natural as possible. I had to redraw the main body too to accompany the new position too, but thankfully, that wasn't as hard as redoing the head in my opinion.
