  • Did a collaboration piece with a friend! We added the first few pins to on board on Pinterest after refreshing the main page. Then we added other like pins and used that board for inspiration. This is what I came up with!

Pics 2-4 are screenshots from the pin board we had, paired with the sections/section titles my friend created for them xD

  • "He had somehow developed the idea that bookshops were only for wealthy grown-ups, that he’d be dragged out by the ear if he dared to enter.”

I was a bookworm growing up but it looks was always from the library. Books that I got to own were special and gifts. Two that I still remember very distinctly are this one set of books I got one Christmas. It was about an owl teaching kids The Secret (aka manifestation) and being friends with them.

The other was the last book in a certain book series by She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named. I don't think I knew it was coming out but my dad surprised me by taking me to the local B&N for the release party and telling me that he had bought me the book but it was coming in the mail. I think i devoured that book in a sitting or two and might have even re-read another time or two withing like tha first week or two of me owning it.

Anyways I just finished Babel this weekend, in a slight race against time before the ebook got auto returned to the library. It was an interesting read. I went in blind, not knowing much. It was pretty slow for like 3/4 of the book before getting really intense and fast paced. While it was an interesting reading, I'm not sure it's one I'd recommend for others to read? And for sure not a books I'd re-read again.

All the quotes I pulled for this post are quotes from when Robin visits a bookstore in Babel. And tbh are kind of all a mood for me

Have you read Babel? If so what did you think? What are your thoughts about bookstore? Have any special memories about specific books you got growing up?

  • *“Gods of Jade and Shadow feels told rather than read..” - Goodreads user chai ♡*

I was looking for quotes from the book on Goodreads as I read this book as an audiobook. While looking for the quotes link, I came across a review by a user named Chai. The first line of their review struck me as so very true in regards to the book. I didn’t think it as I was reading the book but it’s so true looking back on it. I initially started reading it as an ebook but wasn’t able to finish it before I had to return it to the library. I later picked up the book again using an audiobook from Libro. The story and time flew by while I was reading the audiobook.

I made the switch in editions rather than just renewing the book hold because something in me felt like it would be better enjoyed as an audiobook. At the time I thought it was due to the Spanish names and words, which I think is still true. More so I think it was because it was a story meant to be told rather than read.

This book was beautiful and wonderful. I’m grateful I did the looking on tomesandtextile’s tiktok page to find her recommendation for a someone’s first book for Silvia Moreno-Garcia.

Q: What books have you read that are feel told not read? Or what books have you read that are better read as an audiobook?

  • @rekaholic is hosting an challenge for the month of April and I thought I’d join in. The challenge is an art prompt and a sharing prompt each week. The first week’s art prompt is ‘hybrid” and the sharing prompt is “What is your favorite tools at the moment?”

For the prompt hybrid, I decided to go with a half elf & half human character. I had already been feeling a little inspired by @feefal ’s latest plantone post so I combined the two alongside some inspiration from Pinterest. Tattoos were inspired by Moogulu (an south indian art form) and @gunga_ma

My current favorite tools for art are my ipad and procreate. The combo has been my go-to art tools for the past 5/6 years (basically when I got them). That being said I want to get into using Clip Studio Paint and my Huion tablet more. I first started digital art with my laptop and a graphics tablet.
