  • The Luufmaannen (wolf men) are a faction of the Vaathoolnmenskje (snow people). They are named such for their coats made from wolf skin. Their weapon of choice is the Kraalenskverta, which translates to claw sword.

The Kraalenskverta is a sword with an unusually wide, not unlike a falchion, but with the tip bent backwards into the shape of a claw. This tip, whose inside is also sharpened, is used to hook weapons, shields and limbs.
The particular weapon seen here is more ornate than usual, meaning it likely belongs to a pack leader of some power and renown.

    ----------

This is a redesign of something I came up with over 20 years ago, when I had no concept of weight and stuff. The original claw sword was essentially a solid block of steel with three bent and sharpened tips, emulating an animal's claws. However, since that would severely limit the attacks one could do with it (ignoring the fact that the weapon would probably weigh around 20~30 kg), so the redesign has an edge. I wasn't certain if I should put the edge along the "inside" or "outside", but went with the latter. So now the "claw" is the false edge of the blade.

  • Crow's Feather is the weapon of the Nordlandian demigoddess Freykja, Queen of Feathers, Mistress of the Second Moon, Champion of the Winter Omen. She was the first (and only) female champion of Haltyr, the god of war and primary god of the Nordlanders. The weapon was forged and gifted to her by Eldrod Hugsmídur, thought to be the most skilled backsmith to ever live. Freykja and Haltyr eventually fell in love, and she became so powerful that she is now considered a demigoddess.

Freykja earned her power, as Haltyr does not give favors, not even to his lover. He only rewards those who put in the effort, who show strength, courage and fairness in battle. However, due to her state as his lover, many people, who were envious of her, accused her that she only became so powerful because she was Haltyr's concubine. This greatly insulted her pride and she decided to end the relationship with Haltyr, so she could no longer be accused of sleeping herself to the top. However, this, in turn, hurt Haltyr's pride, and he did the one thing he himself never accepted from his champions - he acted on emotions rather than rationality. He purged Freykja's story. People would no longer tell stories or sing songs about her, she became lost to history and was mostly forgotten. Today few stories about her remain, and the only ones still remembering her are the members of the Krárakyn, the Crow Clan who eventually begun to worship her instead of Haltyr.

Although Haltyr tried to reconcile with Freykja several times, after his purging her from history, she refused any attempts. Haltyr, on the other hand, decided to never again accept a woman as his champion in fear of repeating his mistake. Unfortunately, this lead to a divide among Nordlandian men and women. While both genders are typically equal in their society, the fact that women can't be champions lead to the widespread belief that they are generally inferior to men in combat.

    ----------

After all the issues I had with the Wanderman's Axe, but it can be found on my Artstation profile), I needed to so something that I knew wouldn't cause me any issues. Originally I intended to give the blade an actual feather-like structure, but that would have been difficult to model again, and it would likely also impede the blade's ability to cut. So I decided to go for a feather damast pattern instead.

  • The Nerites-class mining barge is the largest type of mining vessel currently in existence. At a length of 1,500 meters, this behemoth houses facilities for processing, refining and purifying most types of ore found on asteroids.

The Nerites incorporates the most advanced technologies developed for mining to date.
The ship’s massive mining turrets comprise two quantum phase modulated (QPM) laser beams on a rotating fixture. These lasers can modulate their wavelength at will, from infrared for melting material, over visible for precision cutting, ultraviolet for surface ablation and breaking down molecular bonds in hard-to-cut materials, to x-ray for fragmenting ultra-dense materials resistent to longer wavelengths, and even gamma rays to break down nuclear bonds of elements impossible to process with other means.
At the center of each mining turret is a tractor beam emitter, used to suck in the material broken off by the lasers.
The ship contains a large hangar housing hundreds of drones, known as the beehive.
Mining drones are used to harvest deposits too small to warrant training the ship’s large mining laser onto. Prospector drones swarm a potential site to detect any relevant ore deposits. Maintainance drones to maintain and repair the ship’s exterior. Tug drones to move the ship’s detachable cargo containers, and possibly damaged drones.
The Nerites-class is controlled by three independent AI cores. One controls the mining and processing of materials, one controls the drones, and one is in charge of ship operations. This advanced system makes it possible for the ship to be operated by a crew as small as 200 individuals.
Armed with 14 medium-class pulse laser turrets (6 at each side, 2 in the back), the Nerites-class is only moderately armed. However, its armor consists of advanced materials and is extremely difficult to crack by anything less than capital-class armaments. In addition, the mining turrets can be used as offense weapons. However, since they are not designed for this purpose, their tracking systems are not fast enough to track anything smaller than large-scale capital ships. Finally, although it is possible to modify some bays within the drone hangar to house combat drones, some miners found ways to add combat protocols to mining drones, making them attach to enemy ships and essentially cutting them to pieces.

The most famous Nerites-class was the Meridian 14, owned by famous explorer Jackson Ives Castle. While many may think that using a mining ship for exploration is strange, Castle once explained that the idea isn’t as far fetched as one may think. The ship has a long range, spacious accomodation, a massive interior that can be converted into mission-specific spaces, advanced sensors and scanners, and it can sustain itself almost indefinitely, as it can mine and process almost any materials required for synthesis. The mining AI was reprogrammed to analyze and collate sensor data instead.

    ----------

This was a model I created in May 2011 and figured I'd update it.

  • Luna Delajour is a 16 year girl who hails from a long line of witches and wizards originating in Occitania. Her family, originally bearing the name Delazure, migrated to the US generations ago. The Delazure name, meaning "from the sky," evolved to Delajour over time.

Her wand is 32.6 cm long, the grip has a diameter of 2 cm (0.79"). The wand is made from Albony wood, a relative of Ebony, which often has Midnight Amber inclusions, increasing the wand's strength. The pearls spiralling around the grip are meteoric gold, tip and pommels are silver, the crystals blue kyanite. Luna loves anime, especially magical girl/heronine anime, so the wand has taken on a shape resembling a transformation wand, which are often found in such anime.

Luna has learnt to use her wand to project a blade of magical energy, which she uses like a sword. The blade can cut through pretty much any material (except blackrock and silver). However, it is not lethal. If she strikes a human with it, they will not be harmed, only stunned for a little while. It also requires a lot of energy to form the blade, so she can't maintain it for a long time.

  • Ozekon, the Basilisk Fang, is the weapon of Lostra Varenne, formerly known as Triece Valzakar, the Basilisk King, in a different world. After she was reborn in Sappirya, a province of the Rumaran Empire on the world of Orvia, she regained some of her power and eventually, like all sorcerers, crafted her own staff. Since she refused to focus on magic alone, Ozekon is a hybrid of magic staff and spear.

  • The druzag (which translates to "dreaded blade" in the Orcish language), also known as Orcish cleaver, is a sword favored by Orcs. The weapon features a large, wide blade designed for cutting and chopping. It is far too heavy and unwieldy to be used by humans, but perfect for Orcs. The grip is larger and wider to accomodate Orc hands. The concave shapes are just decoration, making the weapon look more gruesome.

Also, small correction, the grip is 15 cm (5.91"), not 24 cm long.

  • Glavon (n.): sword

    irin (adj.): slender, narrow, fine

Glavirin (n.): narrow-bladed sword (general term)

    alvi (adj.): noble

    Glavirin Alvi: rapier

The rapier (latk. Glavirin Alvi) is a narrow-bladed type of sword primarily designed for thrusting. It can be distinguished from the Glavirin Min (small narrow-bladed sword) by its longer blade (around 70-100 cm / 28-40") and the complex basket hilt, which can be quite intricate.
The Latikan term "Glavirin Alvi" literally translates to "noble narrow-bladed sword" and was coined because the rapier is a favored type of weapon among nobles. Its design is considered very elegant and, while being a functional weapon, the emphasis is often on using expensive materials and complex and intricate basket designs, making the rapier as much a decorative object and showpiece, as it is still functional.
Rapiers are primarily used for sports and training, as well as duels and self-defense, but they are rarely seen on the battlefield. Many nobles possess at least two Glavirini Alvii. One will be a simpler, more sturdy and practical design for duels, while the rest will be designed primarily as decorative items.

This particular Glavirin Alvi belongs to Seradien Malvenay d'Adulmesh and was given to him by his father at age 16. The blade is 3 cm (1.2") at the widest place. As Glavirini Alvii go, this is on the wider side and gives it a bit more cutting ability, although it remains primarily a thrusting weapon. It is also only 70 cm (28") long, which is basically the lowest such a blade can be. While looking intricate, the hilt is of relatively simple design. The pommel is cast from brass, while the guard structures of the hilt are forget from steel, to reduce weight, which was then burnished to look like brass as well. This makes the hilt more decorative than that of a pure fighting weapon. The grip is made from a dark wood and is wrapped with thin brass wire.
The quillon block has a silver inlay of the head of a Sappiryan blue Karikat, the heraldic animal of the Malvenay family.
Although it is also a intended as a decorative weapon, the hilt is relatively simple as Glavirini Alvii go. This is for two reasons - one, it should also be somewhat practical, so it can actually be used for self-defense, and two, the Malvenay family became impoverished generations ago. Seradien's father simply was not able or willing to afford a more grandious weapon, or a duel and a decorative one.

  • The claviamundos (the name is a stylistic evolution of the Latin "Clavis ad Mundos", meaning "key to worlds"), also known as cantuclavis (lat. "singing key") is a magical device used to facilitate travel between various worlds, known as Mundi. Resembling a tuning fork, the claviamundos features four prongs, each equipped with adjustable weight sliders that enable precise tuning to the unique vibrational frequencies of different worlds.

The claviamundos operates on the principle that each mundus has a distinct frequency. The device's four adjustable prongs allow users to precisely align these frequencies through carefully positioned weights. This precise tuning is critical, as inaccuracies can result in failed transfers or misdirected journeys to unintended, often unknown, destinations.

To use the claviamundos, the user must strike each prong with a small tuning hammer to produce a tone, then adjust the weight until the resonance aligns perfectly with the target world's frequency. Once the tuning is finished, all four prongs are struck. The complexity of tuning generally restricts its use to known worlds with established frequency records. The risks associated with exploring unknown frequencies are well-documented, highlighted by several explorers who vanished while attempting to discover new Mundi. As a result, most users are cautious, preferring the claviamundos for travel to familiar locations.

While not as common as specialized magical portals, the claviamundos is a recognized and occasionally utilized tool for traveling between mundi. It is especially valued in scenarios where portable or emergency travel options are necessary, making it a prized possession for explorers and researchers. For ease of use, or in case of emergency situations, there are also claviamundi that come pre-tuned to a specific mundus.
Though not enveloped in the same level of mystery as more ancient or arcane artifacts, its technical nature and the precision required for its operation imbue it with a certain allure among practitioners of magic.

The Claviamundos is part of my Powers Within worldbuilding project. I saw a drawing somewhere that inspired me. I think it was something out of Dungeons and Dragons.

  • Among the Nordfolk, a Wanderman ("wandering man") is a term for a lone nomad or vagabond travelling the land, often in search of challenge, knowledge and/or wisdom. A Wanderman travels light, lives off the land as much as possible, and uses only what he can find to survive. Among the few things a Wanderman carries is a weapon, and one of the most common weapons is the Wanderman's Axe. The axe has a long shaft and doubles as a walking cane, while the relatively small head serves as a grip.
There are many variations, with differently shaped heads, or a spike at the bottom end. In this case, the part below the head was enforced with brass and can be used to pary blades.
Every Wanderman's axe is unique, as the owner will often use downtime to decorate their axe in their own unique style.

This particular axe belongs to a Wanderman named Alfar Heldrynnr. His origin is unclear, but it is assumed that he is a former champion of Haltyr, Nordish god of war. Heldrynnr ("hero maker") is a by-name of Haltyr, and also a name often assumed by champions.

    ----------

This was the first axe I ever modelled, and may be the last one, too. I spent days working on the head, and I'm still only around 80% satisfied with it, as C4D has a habit of completely messing up any topology. It also really doesn't like something about the model, often freezing for a long time every time I click something.
I had also intended to have the spiral on the shaft carved into the wood, but that completely overwhelmed the program, so I decided to just make it a wire.
