I wanted to redesign Kao the kangaroo (I don't like the version in the new game that recently came out). I wanted to make him much cuter and more appealing; basically gave him a much cuter, Disney-esc face and a more streamlined body shape. I went with a hoodie instead of the pants from the new design and gave him a pouch more like the original version of Kao (I don't care that male marsupials don't have them in real life and I don't need any explanation for this other than appeal)
