The claviamundos (the name is a stylistic evolution of the Latin "Clavis ad Mundos", meaning "key to worlds"), also known as cantuclavis (lat. "singing key") is a magical device used to facilitate travel between various worlds, known as Mundi. Resembling a tuning fork, the claviamundos features four prongs, each equipped with adjustable weight sliders that enable precise tuning to the unique vibrational frequencies of different worlds.
The claviamundos operates on the principle that each mundus has a distinct frequency. The device's four adjustable prongs allow users to precisely align these frequencies through carefully positioned weights. This precise tuning is critical, as inaccuracies can result in failed transfers or misdirected journeys to unintended, often unknown, destinations.
To use the claviamundos, the user must strike each prong with a small tuning hammer to produce a tone, then adjust the weight until the resonance aligns perfectly with the target world's frequency.
