Another D&D character of mine from our current "short" campaign. He's mostly known by the name James and he works as a butler for a noble family. Or he did work as a butler, but due to events he currently works as the personal bodyguard and babysitter of the family's spoiled youngest son. I can admit playing a Sun Soul Monk wasn't my first idea, but when asking the other players in our table what would be a fitting D&D class for a butler, one player suggested a Monk and I got way too carried away with that idea. And since our Dungeon Master tied James' lore to a firebird/phoenix god, Way of the Sun Soul sounded like the perfect option for his subclass. So now I have an old classy guy stabbing enemies with a kitchen knife and throwing flaming sun bolts in their faces while he'd actually just like to get back home and return the son of his master family back before the lad gets himself killed (again.) Ivan Torrent’s Vis Motrix seems like a fitting song for a Monk who’s searching for the power of his soul from deep within, hah.
