The United Provinces of the Netherlands was Civ'ed's country in the aborted *Iron and Blood 7*, modeled on the historical Dutch Republic and expanding to encompass Belgium and Luxembourg. Better-positioned to weather the Napoleonic Wars, the Republic maintained its independence into the nineteenth century, although the Dutch East India Company was disbanded and the colonial empire dismantled. As a result of antimonarchist uprisings in the 1750s, francophone territories had less representation in the Staten-Generaal, and supplied auxiliary light infantry (*Forestiers*) to overseas expeditions.
