“Ochako, any luck with the map?” Izuku calls out brushing vines aside with his hand.
Izuku feels it-the damp moss under his boots. The glint of carved stone under roots. The lost temple has to be nearby!
“Nope.” Ochako replies. Her eyes narrowing while she reads the map for the third time. “Where are the temples-“
That’s when it happened.
A loud grunt. A shadow swooped from the trees-right near the female Botanist.
“YOWCH!” Ochako yelps, swatting at the figure that had just yanked a chunk of her hair. “Hey! That hurts!”
The culprit landed in front of the group with a heavy thud: tall, broad-shouldered, half naked save for a loincloth. Big, square eyes glares at her like she is the intruder.
“Tem-p-als!” He barked with exaggerated movements. He stands tall, then practically gets in her face. “TEM-P-ALS!”
Ochako scrunches her face. She lightly elbows the jungle boy away from her.
Izuku blinks. “I don’t think he can talk…”
“Tch, no kidding,” Shoto deadpans behind the camera, still recording despite the chaos.
“I think he’s just mimicking,” Tsuyu looks straight at him, studying his posture. “Frogs do it to, ribbit.”
The feral boy turns sharply to her. “Frogs do it to!” He mimics, even copying her tone.
“That’s terrifying.” Tsuyu takes a step back.
Then he grabs Izuku’s book, flips it upside down, sniffed it….and tries to eat the corner.
“HEY!” Izuku snatches it back. “That’s the first edition!”
The feral boy scowls, then turns and slaps the map out of Ochako's hands, leaps onto a rock, and pounds his chest with one hand.
“Right.” Izuku blinks. “We’re just gonna…er...follow him now…maybe?”
“I think we met the Prince of the Jungle.” Shoto mumbles, still filming.
Frustrated, the prince points to the trees. Then to his chest. He hoots, and beats it with one hand again.
“I think he wants us to follow him, ribbit.” Tsuyu said.
“Or he’s warning us.” Ochako rubs her scalp.
“No…no!” Izuku adjusts his backpack. “This is incredible! A human raised in the jungle! Possibly connected to the lost civilization. This is huge!”
"This is huge!" The feral boy mimics.
"...Can we teach him to talk first?" Shoto mumbles.
