Lately I've been working on shifting my attention from illustrating towards the world of visual development and concept art, and thanks to my lovely supporters on Patreon, this month resulted in this treasure chest design.

I haven't done much in the way of "post-worthy" design in a long time, but it's neat to see at least some of the "process" in one compiled sheet like this~!

Throughout the process I also learned a lot about the way that I think about "designing" - and how much of it takes place in my head and not on the page - so moving forward I'll be sure to spend less time painting over things and moving a design forward in a way that can't be seen, and more on exploring variations and mid-stage options to better represent how the design evolved.
