The first post I posted here had them, now this one is just about them... Radeas, the fictional flowers from my story, that are actually one of the major anomalies the story is about
------
LORE: Unoradea Kaylightis or just Fumish Radea.
Those are a new kind of radeas, which were first documented by Elliot during one of their research trips – the same trip during which they met Kayleigh, actually.
What do we know about these flowers?
✦ The main feature of radeas’ genus is that they have a one collective root system (for the whole field of flowers) that forms vast underground plexuses. So on the surface, the radea colonies usually look like a large flower field, but underground there is a body mass of the roots that occupies all the available space.
✦ Fumish radeas specifically have some unique features: they spread evaporations around their residential area/ These fumes reflect light in such a way, that the entire field from afar seems almost invisible, blending seamlessly with the surroundings.
✦ Radeas have increased resistance to various harmful substances, and therefore survive without much problems on polluted water and soil.
So, yeah, welcome to my fantasy sci-fi botanical club…. But perhaps the most interesting thing about these flowers is that no one in the story really knows about them. After escaping from his home village for about a year Kayleigh lived in the crater filled with the Radea flower field. There Kayleigh summoned... well, met Lyx.
Lyx is a conscious paranormal being that is very intelligent but doesn’t know **** about themselves. What are Lyx, where did they come from and why are they connected to the flowers? No one knows, even Lyx themselves. But is it actually important to know? According to Kayleigh not so much. He and Lyx were able to leave the field for a trip through universe, so why bother thinking about anything else?
