> She stared at its monstrous club, thinking of the one she'd finally been able to make for Malroth, after all that time together. Last time, the gigantes had complimented her handiwork, and she'd blushed furiously. He hadn't been interested in a fight, so Malroth had enjoyed comparing club techniques while Vivi rooted around in the bushes for medicinal leaves.
I’m sure it is in no small part due to the fact that my first DQ game was DQM2, but the monsters have always stuck out to me and soothed my soul in a way that the human characters don’t quite reach. In my headcanon, these two regularly make their way back around the islands to visit with - and challenge to friendly bouts - the monsters they’ve befriended, but who don’t want to come live on the Isle of Awakening.
