He's a being from the Astral Plane that occasionally drifts between our world and other realms between space and time. He does this to monitor events and help keep the balance between them. He later encounter's an intergalactic college student named Jamie ('Jay') who stumbles upon a power potentially more powerful than his own. The name Ionis Walker is the name Jamie offers to him, as he goes by many names or none at all depending on the realm he's in. Ionis being his first name, and Walker (Plane of existence walker) being his last name.
