A bit of story here too:

Jahn who at the time was a Human found this broken arm band/artifact in some very very ancient ruins after hearing rumors of no one could find but may hold items of extreme value (A perfect opportunity for a skilled thief like himself ), the place was almost crumbled entirely but after some thorough searching found said artifact but it was heavily cracked & somehow still together.

So Jahn brought it back to his camp & after running a ton of magic checks to make sure it was safe he decided to put it on seeing as it was worthless for anything else, turns out there was somehow still some magic lingering in it & had activated.
The problem with this was due to how damaged it was the magic came out in a very manner resulting in it heating up & actually burning through his skin while simultaneously causing a painful transformation.
Jahn eventually passed out from the pain.

And this is what he woke up to, having a new form he would have to get used to eventually & a heavily burned & bleeding arm which thankfully isn't as painful anymore due to all the nerves being dead
