Shira was nothing more than a commoner in his little town. He had family, made friends, worked, all the simple joys - and he shared these joys with folks from a nearby town as well. That is, until the neighboring town began to disappear. No, people weren't going missing, they slowly left without a trace.

Some dark calamity has begun to infect the world, and while Shira may not have experienced tragedy himself, he knows its touch can stain the world, and he wants to do something about it.

While studying martial arts and magic, he encounters a beast made of obsidian and fire - a fight he should never have survived. And yet, somehow, he emerges victorious. He takes advantage of this luck, and using the magic he studied before, replaces his own hands with the obsidian claws of the beast, making himself a shifter by body, not blood.

After taking some time to hone his skills with these claws, he receives a letter from the King, asking him to join the fight against the calamity. Shira has seen enough stains on the world to allow it to continue, so he packs nothing and books it for the castle.
He will do whatever it takes, no matter the cost.
