The black dog is protective and warming, while having a cold mind, and the white dog is healing and sad(cold but compassionate), having a warm heart. It is a balance of compassion, warmth, vulnerability, trust, coldness and reasonability. Also, there is an idea here that the black dog protects the white from the outside world, while the white dog protects the black from himself, reaching the sensitive side.
