Despite the size and stature of Quaid, he is regarded as a tender and soft man. He’s highly respected, being a prized possession of the chief of Fiskaross, Muse. Quaid brings in another perspective from a different village and the outside world, having been the husband of an aggressive chief troll named Inger. Inger was a cunning and bloodthirsty troll who stayed as a leader through bloodshed; she claimed Quaid as her property. Despite being her property, she abused him as if he were any other common troll. Quaid would have fled from her grip if it weren’t for the fact that he had children with her. He stayed and nursed them, loved them unconditionally. Knowing that his children wouldn’t be safe from her, he fought back and challenged her, but it was a match to no avail. He was defeated and scarred on his neck with her very own claws, a reminder that he should never speak back to her ever again. Their lives continued as normal from that day on, as Quaid had learned his place in their relationship, but every night he prayed for her downfall and for her death. Soon, the day finally came when their village was attacked by enormous beasts, unlike anything he had ever seen on the many raids his wife had brought him on.
Quaid knew that this was his moment to save himself and his children. But they were gone, slaughtered by the creatures. If it had not been for Inger and her recklessness, they would all have been safe, he thought. In a fit of rage, he sought her out for one more challenge amidst the chaos and murdered her in cold blood. Nothing was more satisfying to him than seeing her lifeless body. He fled the village as it was destroyed by the beasts, and he never returned.
On his journey for safety, he met Muse, chief of Fiskaross, a troll of thoughtfulness and caring nature. Muse allowed Quaid to settle in their village, and soon feelings bloomed between them. Rather than being a plaything, he was now a prized possession and was cared for as such.
