>when every star fall brought you to tears again_
Helena has always been my favorite My Chemical Romance music video. In fact, it’s my favorite music video of all time. No one will ever convince me that a better music video exists. I have drawn Helena a number of times since I first saw the video in 2005, and she remains one of my favorite subjects. So, of course I was thrilled when they released their "A Summoning" tour announcement video and Helena was one of many cameos.
One thing I noticed immediately, having obsessively watched the original video so many times, is that the bouquet in A Summoning was slightly different from the original. In the original, Helena holds a bouquet of red roses with a few baby’s breath. In A Summoning, lilies of the valley have been added.
Lilies of the valley represent a return to happiness. They are also called Our Lady’s Tears, which of course made me think of the My Chemical Romance song, Our Lady of Sorrows.
This led me here, depicting Helena as a nod to all those pretty depictions of Our Lady of Sorrows.
