Hey, my first blogpost! I'll probably do a few of these, every now and then, to keep people posted. I doubt anyone's waiting with baited breath for a short VN from an unknown dev, but I hope there's at least some interest, (not that it matters too much to me, this is a passion project first and foremost). By the by, I've finally decided a temporary title for the project, 'UADS', aka, 'Untitled Angel Dating Sim'. I'm very creative.
Anyhow, to the news.
- First off on the list, I've decided to fully migrate the game to Ren'py as well as decided to turn it from a mini jam exercise to a full-fledged game. The reasons for this are multifold, but most importantly, I want to take my time making something high-quality, or, at least as high-quality as I can make it at my current skill level. This means actual CG's, custom music, that sort of thing. I also decided to switch to Ren'py from TB simply for more customizability--TB is a fine engine, but I fear it may eventually restrict me, (+ it suffers from an unfortunate issue with the organization being an absolute clusterf*ck). It'll also be a good excuse to actually practice my Python scripting.
- Second, I've made good work on the Cleft Angel's design. I'm thinking of making The Cleft a sapphic option for players, she/her pronouns with what can be considered a 'feminine' form. Most noticeably, The Cleft's...assets. Cleft's filename for an embarrassingly long time before I finalized the design was 'Booba Angel', wwwww, for a reason. I'm a very crude person. So, She/Her pronouns will be likely, I still need to decide on it. Her sprite isn't quiiite done yet, unfortunately, but it's shaping up very nicely, I'd like to think. Like jams..I love painting dark reds. Should get it done tomorrow, and finish up the MC. Then, I'll probably work on The Screaming Angel, next. Fun name! Can't wait to show that little nerd.
- Also on the note of pronouns, the player character will have custom pronouns! Both options for traditional English's he/she/they, as well as custom input pronouns. I feel there's absolutely no point in NOT adding this to the game, inclusivity is big for me when it comes to all my work, even when it comes to playing as a meat tree. **Especially** when it comes to playing as a meat tree. Custom input naming will also be a given. Go wild, or just name the player after yourself or some random person.
- Unfortunately, no code images yet, due to me having to..actually write new code. I'd post my old TB stuff, but I'm afraid it wouldn't be very impressive. I try to keep a certain image of myself, at least, ~~even when I'm a deadbeat dev~~! (^▿^;)
- Language options...eh...Probably will only have to be in English, at the moment. I'd like to translate it when all is said and done, but that's extra manpower, and I'm not confident enough in JP to translate the way I actually write things in English, nor do I have others who could proofread. It'd just be a disservice.
