I haven't drawn a Chikorita in a long time, like 2 years too long if you ask me. Anyway, here's one swimming in a swimming pool in their cute, little inner tube as they bask in the summer sun as they swim around! For those worried that Chikorita will accidentally pop their inner tube due to the spikes around their neck, don't. The inner tube is made of a very strong material that makes it highly pop resistant and it's made to handle prickly Pokemon like Cacnea, Cacturne, and other prickly creatures without any issues.
This was another fun one to put together as this was an idea that popped into my head a day after I was feeling creatively bankrupt. I'm proud of the fact that I was able to finish this in 2 days, given its simplicity, that makes sense. I really had a lot of fun applying the shading to everything here as I discovered that if I set the blending mode of a layer to Overlay and selected a pure black color, I can apply darker shading much faster vs using the Multiply blending mode and selecting each flat color individually. I think the same can apply for brighter shading, but I'm not 100% sure on that as of yet. Regardless, I had a great time drawing them and this discovery of using the color black on an Overlay blending mode layer will make things easier going forward!
