Azreal and his sister Helena lived in Gwessar. Both were taken by a vampire coven where they were enthralled for an unknown number of years. A group of paladins infiltrated the coven and were able to subdue/kill most of the vampires but the head vampire was able to flee along with a small number of their coven-including Azreal's sister.
Azreal was freed from the enthrallment but the experience has left some lasting effects as he began to exhibit some small vampiric abilities that has made the village and himself uncomfortable. He has left his town to find his sister and take revenge on the vampire that took them.
