I've been wanting to do a study of Makovsky's painting for a while, in part to force myself to practice drawing people, but mostly because I just really like that painting. I did it in pencil today as a sort of preparatory stage for a later painting I guess. (I.e. I was too scared to try painting it immediately, or even sketch on the canvas.) Turned out pretty well if you don't look too closely at the hands.
