Ok. This was made back in 2019, during some time torwards the end of the lowerst point in my life yet, and after having listened to Black Sabbath's Planet Caravan for who knows how many times, so I had all these nightsky/space pirates concepts in my head.

Despite having tagged it as orginal art, this was originally intented as fanart for a rareship (FlintVane) in Black sails; but though it was (and still is) a very (and perhaps the most) important ship to me, I've come to consider it a deep delusion about the canon, and the art, in relation to it, somewhat nonsensical without an explanation of this ship's personal significance to me, which I do not intend to give. So without much to tie it to the show that inspired me - not only is any previous knowledge of the show completely unecessary to comprehend the work, but also I find that it has more meaning without this association - I tagged it as such.

This is a very important work to me. I keep repeating myself- this is one of the only works that I can look back upon with... love, I think. It has nothing to do about technical skill, but I think this is one of the only truly beautiful things I've even made. It came from a vulnerable place and it is my favorite.

The last paragraph of the song goes:

"And so we pass on by the crimson eye
Of great god Mars
As we travel through the universe"

I could go on and on talking about this song, but in short, in my head I thought: "to pass on by the crimson eye" of Mars, the god of war- it was to meet war, or any of the many pains of life, after coming from all the beautiful things described in the first paragraphs; something as impossible to avoid as it is impossible for any of us to cause the destruction of a star/planet, or the death of a god.. but then I also wanted to think of the possibily of being able to leave it behind- yes, to pass on by pain as we must, and then move forwards. "As we travel the universe" that's only part of it, that must be. And there must also be peace, love, safety and beauty. Back then I wished for this safety so bad. Anyway

Haha I just love her, very fun to draw, though it made me a bit itchy...

I love it when I'm not flying too close to the sun, but it still descends from its high throne in the sky to melt my sorry excuse for a pair of wings and send me plunging to my death. As I deserve.

That once scene from the beginning of the book, I thought it was hilarious. I wanted to make more drawing as I read it, but I ran out of motivation for reading ;; which is not to say I wasn't enjoying the book, I was! But maybe I should have given my brain some time to breathe after finishing mdzs before starting tgcf.

I'm still gonna finish it some time. <- ~~I keep saying even two years after having dropped it. I believe it tho,,~~

there's more stuff from 2021 than I remembered, and seems like I spent the whole of 2022 working on nothing but commissions
