A quick study from 3 years ago using some left over acrylics from another project.
3 years ago me said:
"This was mostly a dingo study with some left over paint I had from a project,
I also wanted to experiment with texture and different tools, it was a lot of fun to mess around with out concern.
Framed him and sold him at confuzzled 2019"A quick study from 3 years ago using some left over acrylics from another project. 3 years ago me said: "This was mostly a dingo study with some left over paint I had from a project, I also wanted to experiment with texture and different tools, it was a lot of fun to mess around with out concern. Another aprox 5 year old piece, I actually re drew this one about 2 years ago, but I think I still prefer the original, what do you think?
"This character paint up was inspired by the song "Berzerkir" by Danheim. Got me researching berzerkers again, always fascinating and got my creativity flowing!
Berzerkers were known for their trance like fury in combat and that they never seemed to react to their injuries. It inspired many to regard them as part beast and invincible.

I don't draw monsterous critters enough, I do enjoy it and its been ages, this ones about 2 years old, and back then I said:
"Twist on the red riding hood idea... I mean all doggos are good. So, no such thing as the big bad wolf.

Done approximately the same time as the fox, about 4 years ago, again not much to say I was just playing with painting methods in what I believe is probably clip studio.
"Quick study of a wolf, fairly chuffed with this one. There were factions for a game at the convention I drew this for, so it was themed for the nature faction, that only took what they needed from the natural world and shunned the remains of the modern world.
What I Said back then: "The tribes of the brand new wild world have a variety of view, some use all resources available to them, others hold fast to never making the same mistakes as the past and working in harmony with nature, only using what nature gives them.
And some make an exception for that which they may take from the flesh of their enemies.
Nature fox for Confuzzled 2020 inspired by one of the two factions of the event.
Muuuch more in my comfort zone with the single characters than the scene, going to keep working on scenes though."There were factions for a game at the convention I drew this for, so it was themed for the nature faction, that only took what they needed from the natural world and shunned the remains of the modern world. Another from about 5 years ago, this one of my partner :3 To quote me again:
"Bit o' fan art!
Nooni is playing dead space on his streams, (he will be playing tonight around 7 or 8pm GMT if you fancy watching. https://www.twitch.tv/always_games_behind shamelessplugshamelessplug) so I thought I'd draw him in Isaacs armour XD
How'd I do it?:
-Sketched out shapes using dead space promo material as a reference.
-Painted in colours.
-Painted and blended in shading.
-Painted and blended lighting.
-Painted in fine details, fur texture, scratches, whiskers etc.
-Added texture images to add grit, grime and enhance fur texture, they are shaped, shaded over and I used the overlay and multiply layer settings.
I recently started playing with the method of photo bashing used in the professional industry to enhance my paintings. I treat it a bit more like 3D modeling rather than using photos to actually make my "geomentry" of my picture, I paint the picture out then I just use photos to add some extra detail and texture that would be nearly impossible to paint in with out a textured brush.
What do you guys think? Is it a better or worse result than JUST painted work? Or is it just different?"Another from about 5 years ago, this one of my partner :3 To quote me again: "Bit o' fan art! More dungeons and dragons characters! Obviously had a busy year of it 3 years ago.
What I said back then:
"Hey hey, guess what, more dungeons and dragons characters.
This one is my Tabaxi spell thief who’s part of an unusual pirate crew.
Really went out of my comfort zone on a lot of things here, trying to push my skills further.
Hope you enjoy it, what RPG characters have you made recently?"More dungeons and dragons characters! Obviously had a busy year of it 3 years ago. From 2 years ago:
"Digital pet portrait of our beautiful Black Bean Sauce, our magical mini derp.
She’s so sweet, but entirely not clever and we love her for it.

Another horror piece from a couple of years ago, this one was a commission that spawned off of the back of an artfight piece.
What I said back then:
"Commission just finished for alien._.doggo on instagram. https://www.instagram.com/alien._.doggo/
Just in time for a good bit of spooking for spooktober
Character belongs to alien._.doggo.
Art to me."Another horror piece from a couple of years ago, this one was a commission that spawned off of the back of an artfight piece. We had a big important meeting for ConFuzzled recently, we also tacked on a lil party, me like a crazy person offered up my services for the banner that was fairly short notice.
I had a lot of fun even if I was screaming most of the way through XD Can you see all the easter Halloween eggs?
Missed out two on the banner and the banner sadly didn't get put up in the end due to shipping mishaps but I'm still glad I did it, it was a good experience to see how fast I could put together an interesting scene :D Was keeping it secret, then, (possible)ADHD happened so I never ended up putting it up in the spooky month.

Well, I made this a year ago, I'm not in much better of a position now, burnout is a real condition, a physical condition, its your bodies systems collapsing after being in a state of high stress for too long, fight or flight constantly being revved up in the background as you try to work your way through life.
Recovery can take years of actual rest, but todays world doesn't allow that, so recovery seems infintesimally slow.
What I said a year ago still stands fairly firmly:
"I posted this a while ago on twitter, if you want to keep more up to date with me and hear/see my random musings go follow me over there https://twitter.com/Olivitree
Burnout is a strange phenomenon that has been noted over the past few years. I wonder if it was something that was documented as something else (or not at all) or has become far more prevalent with more social pressure to skill up and work-eat-sleep-repeat.
I'm feeling it more keenly now than ever, which is interesting as I'm not taking on any more art work commissions but still I find myself layering on the work load in other areas. It's such a weird thing, it doesn't seem to matter how much I need to rest and, ACTUALLY rest, rather than worrying about everything I should be doing, I can't do it.
I feel like I've worn myself down to a nub and I'm still scraping away at it regardless.
Human condition, perhaps, this is what we are trained to do in the education system (I missed half of it and I still had this "work until your dead" mentality imprinted on me) so we can survive in this awful work-life balanced capitalist world."Well, I made this a year ago, I'm not in much better of a position now, burnout is a real condition, a physical condition, its your bodies systems collapsing after being in a state of high stress for too long, fight or flight constantly being revved up in the background as you try to work your way through life.
