She’d been walking and documenting the fauna and flora on her way for quite a few days now and, thanks to her somewhat lacking planning, she had some trouble finding her way back to camp. This also meant that her supplies were running low and she’d have to look for something to tide her over. Food wasn’t an issue as she was keenly aware of what around her was edible or not, but water? Water was an issue. Cleanliness wasn’t the problem thanks to this forest being home to dryads but she’d be exposed at the water’s edge. And so she found herself here, in front of a pond, contemplating what she should do.




Her mind was half made up to just try her luck and head back to camp when an extra bit of doubt about her ability to find it in time crept into her mind. Combined with the dry feeling of her mouth, she thought “Screw it” and rushed to the rim of the pond. She’d have to be fast about this. Thankfully, the water’s crystal clear reflection let her keep a certain amount of attention to her surroundings. As she bent down towards the surface, she hesitated. She could have sworn the leaves of the mega-tree above her had moved. Then again, it could have just been the wind. There are strong gales at their great height after all… She’d have to speed up. But just as she cusped the water in her hand to bring it to her lips, the leaves began to move again to reveal themselves as a person. A giant. Before she had even truly processed this, a long tongue sprung forth from the camouflaged being and that’s when she realised she’d end up in a stomach. As food.

Some tell of a huge woman, several tens of meters tall. Some tell of a terrifying sea monster. The stories vary in many ways... though one thing they all have in common is that this 'creature', now dubbed Kaimana, has a ravenous appetite, devouring any crew member they can.

Rita let out a big sigh as she rested herself against the cave wall. She was exhausted. Not surprising, considering she had just finished a little brawl. She had found another Earth Dragon wandering her territory this morning and if wandering was all this interloper had been doing, Rita would have left her alone. But no! She was not only walking around as if she owned the place but she was hunting too and Rita could not let that slide. Nobody was allowed to take her food.
Rita strained to shift her weight as she thought back on the scuffle. The intruder had put up a good fight but it wasn’t good enough in the end. So, despite her best efforts, she had to make up for depriving Rita of some of the prey in her territory and exhausting her with such a fight. It was only fair.
