About Nyx:
"Kobolds are usually isolationist, living their whole life in their hidden caves, happily mining away. Kobolds have a belief that to die in service defending the tribe will lead to them being reborn as a kobold again, and someday, a dragon. But to die selfishly, aka not in defense of the tribe, will see your soul cast away, never to be seen again.
This Kobold, Nyx, is in a wierd predicament. She did fight in the defense of her tribe, but was knocked out in the fight...and lived. Her tribe did not. So now she's in a logic puzzle. If she dies now, will she be reborn when her tribe is no more? She doesn't know where any other tribes are, not that they would likely accept her, so she's come to the conclusion that the only way to redeem herself is to hunt down those who killed her tribe, and kill them or die trying.
Nyx began hunting those who killed her tribe. During this search, she encountered a dwarf and mistook him for the killers. Her attempts to kill him were...laughable. At least to the dwarf. Curiously, he didn't finish her off but brought her back to his clan's home. Dwarves have an appreciation for honor and vengeance, and so he decided to help prepare her.
For a year, she lived with them, mining and learning to fight. Finally, a year later she left to search for the killers, as skilled as the dwarves could train her in the art of tracking, fighting, and survival. The Dwarves even equipped her with a light chain main that was so fine it weighed little and felt more like leather.
Weapon wise, they gifted her a light crossbow, and a halberd she had found in an older part of the clan's stronghold.
Unlike most kobolds, who have rough skin, and sharp lizard appearances. Nyx is from a softer subtype of kobold that are...cute. Scales are soft and barely noticable from a distance, and she can be mistaken for a dragonkin/humanoid at first."
