  • "I took my time working on this one and definitely wanted to push myself just a little further. This time, featuring the Snow Snake cryptid for the super cool "Librum Prodigiosum"! I had a great personal model for the pose of the snake and I enjoyed playing with the lighting on the scales!"

That about says it all :)

  • "It's been a minute, but here's the next piece Ive completed for the cool "Librum Prodigiosum"! I love pangolin so when I saw the opportunity to capture the cryptid version I had to go for it!"

The desire to set scenes only grew larger with this one and now it is something I strongly consider with each new piece :)

  • "My latest piece for the ever-expanding Librum Prodigiosum! This time I feature a variety of equine(avian? friends on a sunny backdrop featured as a chapter header!" - Jun 22

This was one of my favorites to work on. Of course I was crazy for horses growing up(and still am ;D) so doing both of these headers was a real treat :)

  • This one just just a silly fanart gift for my partner ~May 22 :)

    Elden Ring had come out not long before this and they(and just about everybody else) were playing this game. I love to watch, I didn't play myself yet, but I fell in love with the Rune Bears ^^;

This gave me a chance to practice detail more and I feel like it had taught me a lot to be see in my later pieces

  • "Observed by zoologist Enrico Hillyer Giglioli, I selected Giglioli's Whale to be my fifth piece in the incredible book, "Librum Prodigiosum"! With this piece I felt like I had finally reached a type of breakthrough. The baleen was my favorite part to work on as the most highly detailed aspect of the animal, and I felt that I had gained a better understanding of light underwater over the past several pieces. Definitely holds a special place in my heart!"

My original description basically says it all but it was such a fun piece to work on. Give me more sealife to draw and I'll do it in a heartbeat :)

  • "The Flashlight Frog came next as my seventh piece for the book "Librum Prodigiosum"! I don't know why I was even surprised to find this little fella in the book, but as a lover of the amphibifriends I just had to take a crack at him!"

I love frogs so much. The option to do a version of this lil' guy was barely even a question. Now he's my profile image everywhere :)

  • "Keeping in with the ocean critters, my third piece for "Librum Prodigiosum" featured the Alula Whale! Definitely worth the rabbit-hole researching them will lead you down, I seemingly couldn't get enough of the depths!"

Still keeping us in the water I just brought us a little closer to the surface with this piece :)

  • My next addition to the book was a take on the Cu Sith. I came completely out of the water here and had a lot of fun taking advantage of the possibility to add more texture. With so much else of what I had done up to this point basically being in a scarce environment it was exciting to challenge myself to make this one seem fuller.

  • "I took a swim out of saltwater and into fresh for a bit when I chose the Altamaha-ha as my sixth cryptid for the book "Librum Prodigiosum"! This toothy friend hails from Georgia, USA and may or may not simply be after your fish!"

I still really like how this guy came out. After working on many smooth things in a row it was fun to challenge myself to a more rugged friend :)

  • "In November 2021 I was invited to participate in a book project called "Librum Prodigiosum" featuring all sorts of fun creatures from myth and lore. This was my first completed piece featuring several of the fish sighted by zoologist William Beebe in his bathysphere adventures : the Pallid Sailfin, the Three Starred Anglerfish, the Five-Lined Constellation Fish, the Abyssal Rainbow Gar, and my personal favorite, the Giant Dragonfish!"

Being about a year past when I originally created this piece I have progressed a bit further in my artistic skill; however I still wanted to start here to at least keep all of the pieces for this book in chronological order :)

  • "My second piece for "Librum Prodigiosum" featured Beebe's Manta! Spotted by the same William Beebe as the previously posted abyssal fish, I found this to be a fun creature to work on!"

This was where I got to really start playing around with water; it was a fun challenge and one I continued to face as my pieces progressed :)

  • "The Water Horse Chapter Header for the super cool book, "Librum Prodigiosum"! This piece is probably the largest I've worked on but it was definitely a fun challenge!"

Back to the water with this one! I learned here that I really like working on such a large canvas and creating big scenes :)
