Lapis, the Mirror Gem.
The Ocean Witch.
Crest of the Sea.
She'd been trapped for thousands of years, marks of time and isolation worn deep between the fractal light of her form. It took upon her the seamless record of vengeance, dark and blistering as, even with the decades, the centuries, that she'd been trapped, she was still a force, a thunderous one, to be reckoned with. All that was on her mind was her return to the place of her construction, the nest of dark stone and all the same, blinding light, that had beckoned here so many thousands of years ago.
She'd had her fill of Earth, the filthy rock having contained her long enough.
All that she had to do...was find a way back. At first, it seemed hopeless, her fragmented, shaken form no match for the momentous task at hand. There wasn't enough water in the galaxy to push her out far enough, she knew...but that didn't stop her from trying. Yet still, even when she'd siphoned every last drop from the surface of that worthless planet, she shouldn't have been surprised that it wasn't even close, not even remotely.
But still...she was heartbroken.
Completely and utterly heartbroken.
Just when she'd thought that she'd have to resign herself to another eternity on that world, there was a boy, a half-gem, that shouldn't have helped her at all, if she could be frank. He was...kinder than she deserved, more loving than she deserved, and though knew for certain that he couldn't understand everything that she'd suffered...he didn't need to.
It was enough to have just one voice, one comfort, in a world that felt utterly against you.
And it was this same boy that would grant her salvation in the form of a kiss.
A kiss that healed her gem and gave back just a little of what she'd lost.
The power to fly and it was that power that, at least for now, may have been the start of healing her broken heart.
At least...that was what she thought.

A quick concept page of some Lapis sketches I had for her redesign (or more appropriately, her fandesign; this is just what I cooked up real quick). This was released from my Patreon as a little teaser of what is there (which isn't much, but I really just wanted to release this ^^)
Anyway, hope you enjoyed this rough piece; will likely put out something more concrete in terms of references down the line.Lapis, the Mirror Gem. The Ocean Witch. Crest of the Sea. Quick Luna Chibi, before she was corrupted, that is. She was much younger in this form, and I just wanted to see how she would mesh as a smaller, cuter version of herself, and I think it turned out really nicely ^^Quick Luna Chibi, before she was corrupted, that is. A Character study of my version of Diamond "Dazzle" Tiara for Amalgamverse. She's the only child of Filthy and Spoiled Rich, and is the singular heir and inheritor of her family's properties and sprawling gem mines across Equestria. Spoiled rotten by her parents, she is consistently a thorn in the Crusader's side, though a lot it might have to do with the immense pressure that she feels to fulfill the expectations of her family...but that's neither here nor there lolA Character study of my version of Diamond "Dazzle" Tiara for Amalgamverse. "...And we can run and play! Do you guys like it?" He watched them carefully as they considered his drawing in silence. Of course, he wasn't sure what they would make of it; it wasn't as if he'd personally ever seen grass or the sky, so he had to go off of the way that Arcane told him what they looked like. It was still difficult to fathom that there was, indeed, a big, wide world above his head, but all the same, a sense of wonder was quick upon him from the very moment that he'd learn of what might lie beyond the walls of the lab he called home.
Could there really be something more than...white? More than the sterility? More than the cold? More than...the loneliness he felt when they, when Gilded and Arcane, weren't here? He smiled at the thought, feeling...hopeful, and just then, Arcane nodded, inspecting the crude drawing closely.
"I like it! You even got the sun right this time! Good job, Mal!" The young draconequus was approving, and that only helped to improve the creature's confidence.
He liked when other told him nice things. He...didn't get to hear them too often.
"Th-thank you!" He beamed, but his eyes trekked quietly over to Gilded, her shining, golden eyes still transfixed upon his picture. She didn't say anything for a long moment, even when he found himself tensing slightly under her scrutiny, though that wasn't all too uncommon. The young pegasus was always so hard to read, and though she was hardly ever mean, it made moments like this all the more...uncomfortable.
But he was relieved when she, too, smiled.
He liked when she did.
"I like it, too. I...I really do. I hope we can do that one day." She said wistfully, and Mal returned her pensive look, though his was assured.
Confident.
"We will. I'm sure of it."

I thought it would be nice to get the three of them on a page together to sort of get a guage for their dynamic, that is, for Mal, Arcane, and Gilded. I'll do more with these characters, but for now, he's just a bit about them:
* Mal (The one with the white and black fur) - Born (or rather created) by Twilight Sparkle for a secret project, he is a living, magical weapon endowed with incredible potential as he was formed using magical transmutation. Granted the purpose of ending the war that had been plaguing Equestria for nearly a generation, he lived within a lab and remains friends with just two others, Gilded and Arcane (pictured above).
* Gilded (Th golden pegasus filly) - Born in Equestria to unknown parents and orphaned at birth, she was taken in by Twilight and "repurposed" as a test subject for Project Sakekeep, the project that was spawned after Mal's birth. She exists as one of three living seals for his powers, making up the "Body" aspect of the Divine Triad. She has yet to discover her true strength and power, but gets by just fine doing what she is told.
* Arcane (The grey draconequus cub) - Second son of Twilight and Discord, and the twin brother to Arcspire, he is the child of chaos and the expected successor of his father, Discord, and the heir to the Throne of Chaos. Not without a mischevous streak,he visits the lab with his mother, Twilight, and becomes fast friends with both Mal and Gilded. He is the two's one link to the outside world, and though he is more than happy to tell them about the surface world, he would much rather find a way to get them to come with him...though he's having some issues convincing his mom to let him do so.
Those are just some quick excerpts about the three of them, and I will definitely be tackling them individually in due time, but I haven't done art in a bit, so I'm just feeling out the edges right now, but I'm pleased with how this turned out!...
