  • I fucked up. I let my impatience get the better of me, I yelled at one of the devs, and now... I don't think I can be here for a good few months.

Jay, I'm sorry for getting so angry over something so incredibly simple. I may not be doing very well in the sleep department, but that is not an excuse for me to get so angry. What I did was wrong. I'll try to keep it from happening again. But in order for me to make it a promise, I need to step away from Inkblot for a good long while.

I'll be logging off for at least three months, at most for the rest of the year.

  • TW: Death Mention

Here's Part 1 of the massive document I have written about the forbidden magic system of Fenrathae.

Mugoureans are the race of mortals that originated on Voeniro, which is the planet that hold the Fire Element. Vozeo's a Mugourean, but the vast majority of Mugoureans dislike him in some manner because they believe that he drove all Eight of The Sacred Keepers of Fenrathaeaway from their worlds, physically and spiritually. All Mugoureans have enough Fire magic (either Darkened or Brightened Fire) to be able to see beneath the surface of lava. They also have lava-proof scales and hair-feathers.

Lontranors are the race of mortals that originated on Daituria, which is the planet that holds the Water Element. Lontranors are basically an anthropomorphic mix of otters and newts. They have gills that can only be activated with a bit of Water magic. They have hydrophobic fur on their bodies, and sub-polar-pelted and polar-pelted Lontranors can only visit Voeniro's polar and sub-polar regions because of the fact that Voeniro is a generally warmer planet, and Daituria is generally a colder planet.

Anyhow, let's get into the worldbuilding!

    **Basic Definition**

Penumbrancy is a forbidden form of magic that is said to draw power from the Eclipsed Shadows of the lunar and solar eclipses. This dangerous form of magic can only be used by someone if that person (human/Dragon Elf/Drake Elf/Mugourean/Lontranor) goes through a certain ritual, called the Eclipsed Genesis Rite. All that is widely known about this rite is that it involves the darkest phase of the moon on each planet, which also contributes to the name of this forbidden magic. It also involved the use of a moonstone and a second precious stone. Once the Eclipsed Genesis Rite is completed, the moonstone turns dark red like the moon during the peak of a lunar eclipse. This moonstone is then called an Eclipsed Moonstone. People under the age of 23 who attempt to go through the Eclipsed Genesis Rite always die because their souls are not developed enough to withstand the Eclipsed Shadows. It is thought that the Exiled Spirit, the one who reigns over the Eclipsed Shadows and also helps lead the Alliance of Venrias alongside Vozeo, requires slightly more matured souls to devour in exchange for a mortal to receive their Penumbrancy powers.

    **The Conduit Stones**

In order for someone who can use Penumbrancy magic to use its blessings, curses, and spells, they must have a moonstone, and one other precious stone/gemstone, on their person as brooches with raw, cut, or polished precious gemstones or precious stones.

    1. For a human, the second precious gemstone must be an ametrine. When the Eclipsed Genesis Rite is complete, the ametrine changes in color to off-black-and-pale-yellow, making it an Eclipsed Ametrine.

    2. If the person becoming a Penumbrancer is a Dragon Elf, the second precious gemstone must be a smoky quartz. When the Eclipsed Genesis Rite is complete, the smoky quartz darkens in shade and color to black or off-black, making it an Eclipsed Smoky Quartz.

    3. If the person becoming a Penumbrancer is a Drake Elf, the second precious gemstone must be a citrine. When the Eclipsed Genesis Rite is complete, the citrine changes in color from yellow to dark yellow, making it an Eclipsed Citrine.

    4. If the person becoming a Penumbrancer is a Mugourean, the second precious stone must be a light opal. When the Eclipsed Genesis Rite is complete, the light opal turns off-black with pale yellow iridescence, making it an Eclipsed Light Opal.

    5. For a Lontranor, the second precious stone must be a matrix opal. When the Eclipsed Genesis Rite is complete, the matrix opal turns off-black with pale yellow iridescence, making it an Eclipsed Matrix Opal.

The strength of the blessings, spells, and curses depends on how large the moonstone and the second stone are, as when the moonstone is larger, the spell or curse is stronger. When the second stone is larger, the blessing/curse/spell lasts longer. If both stones are of equal size, the blessing/curse/spell is stronger for a longer period of time.

Once a Penumbrancer completes the Eclipsed Genesis Rite, their existence slowly becomes more dependent upon their Conduit Stones. After about a year of being a Penumbrancer, if one is more than a mile away from their Conduit Stones, the blood vessels in their brains will swell and they will experience severe migraines until they're closer to their Conduit Stones. If a Penumbrancer's Conduit Stones are destroyed after a year or more of being a Penumbrancer, they will experience severe internal bleeding until they either bleed out and die or until someone or something else kills them more quickly.

The only known person who can use Penumbrancy spells without the need of those two conduit stones is Vozeo, the Leader of the Alliance of Venrias. The Governments of Fenrathae believe that the reason he is able to do this has something to do with the fact that the sclera of his left eye turned black eight hundred years ago, back when Penumbrancy became more organized.

  • "Don't talk to me or any of my children ever again." That's the vibe I was going for with this cursed image!

I've been dealing with such severe artistic burnout that I can't work on serious pieces or character ref sheets like I wanted to. So instead, I spent about 5-6 hours over the course of 2 days working on this cursed masterpiece of a shitpost for The Fenrathae Saga Volume 1! Because somehow, I DO have the energy to work on silly shitposts of my characters! X'D

The big Autism Creature in the back is my sona, Esora, in her secondary/true form!

Yes, that is, indeed, Original Vessel!Delros as an Autism Creature on the far right-hand side of the drawing! He recently tod me that he's autistic and (inattentive) ADHD. Even though I _originally_ intended him to be neurotypical. So apparently, I am _so_ neurodivergent that I can't even write neurotypical characters, lol! The worst part is that _NOBODY_ in my family is neurotypical, either! Even my PARENTS are very neurodivergent! XD

    So yeah. Artistic burnout sucks!

Characters from back to front, left to right are: Esora Ogramira (sona, Dragon Elf in secondary/true form, she/they), Kaelech "Kae" Edlurios (KAI-leck, kai, main character of Volume 1, human, he/him), Ellira Tjelzirus (chell-ZEE-russ, major character of Volume 1, Dragon Elf in secondary/true form, she/her), Lerosenn Gelvertol (pronounced with a hard g, major character of Volume 1, Dragon Elf in secondary/true form), and Delros (Balance Keeper of Faldoria, main character of Volume 1, human, he/him).

  • Sooooooo.... Remember that drawing I posted of Taizaros meeting Kae for the first time?

Well, I've decided to go over it in Clip Studio Paint and turn it into a simple comic page!

I decided to turn the second image, which is a close-up with the layer of shading to indicate Taizaros's presence hidden, into an emoji for my private Discord server. The server is currently private and will remain private until I'm ready to turn Book 1 into a webcomic.

  • Managed to digitalize a traditional art dump over the course of two days without getting mentally exhausted!

This is Otular, Delros's Sacred Familiar! He's a southwestern Huldarraen wolf, and he's also as big as his kind gets. Usually, it's the female southwestern Huldarraen wolves that get as big as Otular is (at the head, he's as tall as Kae is).

Because Otular is Delros's and Kae's Sacred Familiar, he also shares Delros's Lyterri magic (Brightened Earth, Darkened Earth, Plant and Storm magic). Whenever Otular's called into the physical realm of existence, Delros and/or Kae feels every hit that he receives as if they'd been hit, themselves. Delros/Kae doesn't receive the same injury, but they do both feel the pain of the injury. Otular and Delros also shared a psychic link, being able to communicate telepathically with each other. And because Kae is Delros reborn, Kae also shares a psychic link with Otular.

  • Last year, I drew this image of a sus Eclipsed Apprentice!Vozeo Among Us. In paint(dot)net. With a mouse.
I posted it on DeviantArt with a title that implied that I was posting an image that contained VERY heavy spoilers for Volume 1 of Arc 1 of The Fenrathae Saga. And I put a mature content filter on THIS image. In the description, I pointed out that I will never give away spoilers that heavy that freely.

If I ever post artwork relating to The Fenrathae Saga that contains spoilers in some way, I'll make the artwork in such a way that unless you know what to look for, you won't understand what's being spoiled! And if you ask me what's going on in the artwork, I'll just give you a very vague answer! If you ask me if such-and-such a thing is happening in the artwork, I'll just tell you that you're gonna have to find out yourself in the comic when it's posted!

  • TW: Descriptions of violence

Now we're getting into the substance of Penumbrancy, i.e., the various powers a Penumbrancer can have.

    **The Seven Branches of Penumbrancy**

There are seven branches of Penumbrancy. Most Penumbrancers can only use magic from three branch during their time as a Penumbrancer, but there are some who can use spells/blessings/curses from four branches. Only the four Prime Penumbrancers and Vozeo can use magic from all seven branches of Penumbrancy.

    1. *Creation* focuses on summoning Controlled Eclipsed Demons, weapons, projectiles, and objects. Penumbrancers who focus on this branch are usually the second to attack when they are on offense missions with the Alliance of Venrias.

    2. *Destruction* focuses on explosions, force fields, and strong waves of energy to destroy one or more targeted people or structures. Penumbrancers who focus on the Destruction branch are the first to attack when they are on offense missions with the Alliance.

    3. *Restraint* focuses on the summoning and usage of chains, tentacles, vines, and ropes to restrain, injure, and overwhelm a target. These Penumbrancers usually stay in the Complex to torture prisoners. They only leave the Complex when the Alliance calls them to come to a Prisoner Confinement Facility, then torture prisoners there.

    4. *Illusion* focuses on creating tangible illusions that act in very realistic ways, but leave no evidence of existence after vanishing. Like Restraint Penumbrancers, Illusion Penumbrancers stay in the Complex or go to the Prisoner Confinement Facility to torture prisoners of the Alliance.

    5. *Toxin* focuses on the use of magic to poison one or more targets. Toxin Penumbrancers are usually chosen for stealth missions, or they accompany the Restraint Penumbrancers to torture prisoners in the Complex or the Prisoner Confinement Facility.

    6. *Elemental* focuses on using a stronger version of Elemental magic to manipulate the four elements. Elemental Penumbrancy is not as strong as Universal or Lyterri magic. Those who are in this branch of Penumbrancy are sent to defend the Destruction and Creation Penumbrancers on offense missions, and accompany the Toxin Penumbrancers on stealth missions as back-up in case anything goes wrong.

    7. *Transportation* focuses on creating and closing portals between two points. Penumbrancers who are focused on this branch work in pairs, where one will go on missions with the Alliance, and the other will stay in the designated safe location. For a quick escape, the first Penumbrancer will call the second one on a cellphone. Through that phone call, the two Penumbrancers work together to create a portal from the location of the mission to the safe location. The first Transportation Penumbrancer is always the last to go through the portal, so that they and their partner can close the portal behind the first Penumbrancer. In order to create a Transportation portal in the first place, there must always be two people opening the portal from both locations.

Over the past four decades of the Fourth Millennium, the Governments of Fenrathae have picked up chatter within the Alliance about the Leader of the Alliance and the Four Prime Penumbrancers of Fenrathae having access to a possible eighth branch of Penumbrancy. The Eclipse Hunters of Fenrathae (Brightened Elemental Mages and Darkened Elemental Mages who work with the Governments of Fenrathae to track and bring down Penumbrancers on their homeworlds) have noticed the term *“Soul magic”* frequently being used to refer to this possible eighth branch. So far, though, the Eclipse Hunters have not confirmed if Soul magic is the eighth branch of Penumbrancy.

    **Other Things**

It is believed that there are fewer Penumbrancers than Mages, simply because of the nature of the Eclipsed Genesis Rite and because of the fact that those under 23 who do attempt to undergo the Rite die due to the fact that their souls are not yet mature enough.

Once someone goes through the Eclipsed Genesis Rite, they slowly become more prone to sunburn, because their soul is being gradually consumed by the Exiled Spirit. Thus, their body becomes less resistant to sunlight. Those who have been Penumbrancers for over fifteen years tend to stay indoors until nightfall because of how quickly and easily they get sunburned. If they do go outside during the day, they usually carry a parasol to keep the sunlight off of them. Prime Penumbrancers have always been Penumbrancers for twenty years or more. They also stay in the Penumbrancy Headquarters Complex on their respective planet.

The Leaders of the Alliance of Venrias, in conjunction with the four Prime Penumbrancers of Fenrathae within the Alliance, are said to have developed a new Penumbrancy spell in the last 30 years. This spell is rumored to have the ability to freeze one’s soul for several hours, sometimes even a day. The purpose of this dangerous spell is, as of yet, unknown.

In order for one to become a Prime Penumbrancer, they must take an oath of high loyalty to the Alliance of Venrias, after undergoing rigorous training in all branches of Penumbrancy. The night the oath is taken, the Ascendant Prime Penumbrancer pays a visit to the previous Prime Penumbrancer, who is always on their deathbed. During the previous Prime Penumbrancer’s final two hours, that Prime Penumbrancer uses a weak Destruction curse to make their successor infertile or barren. It is believed that the Prime Penumbrancer must have their ability to reproduce taken away, so that they may channel the Eclipsed Shadows through themselves as efficiently as possible.

    ----------
Here's Lerosenn Gelvertol! He's Ellira's best guy-friend, and eventually becomes Kae's best friend.

Yes, he's fat. He's meant to be fat, because as a fat person, I wanted to write a fat character. He enjoys going on long hikes and exploring new cities. He's also a hobbyist swordfighter, and is _really_ good with a two-handed sword. He went to college to get a First Year's Certificate in Mental Health Services, but eventually discovered that being a mental health counselor wasn't his calling. However, he _did_ receive training in how to bring someone out of a traumatic flashback, which has proven to be _very_ helpful throughout Book 1 of The Fenrathae Saga.
