Commissioned full body piece for Mars! Gosh this one was a total pleasure to paint, I love doing lighting like this. I was listening to a podcast episode about how egrets were once hunted for their feathers for women's fashion. The birds were preyed upon in their nesting grounds, adults shot and killed by the thousands, leaving babies and unhatched eggs to die alone. Various laws, like the Migratory Bird Act, and stringent protection have stopped the massive killing of these gorgeous birds.
