This was a vent piece. I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2016, but I don't feel like I was able to self reflect and heal until recent years. I always felt like I was split into two people. One that was protecting my vulnerabilities, and one that was the vulnerabilities. Learning recently that childhood trauma can cause your inner self to "fracture" or "split", has explained this for me. It's not all doom and gloom, though. A third persona can form, from the love of those who care for you, the wisdom and experience you gather, time in a stable environment, and self awareness. I believe that healing is possible for all of us who are struggling with PTSD/CPTSD, and that third person can bring the pieces back together.
