This combines all 4 parts of Page 3 of my little short story of Soka and his favorite jumbo beach ball.
One year has passed since Soka became a Dewott and now, he has evolved into a Samurott and is ready to bounce on his favorite jumbo beach ball once more. However, due to his weight and how hard he was coming down for the bounce, it doesn't go as planned. (The expression on Soka's face says it all.) Now that his favorite jumbo beach ball has popped, he looks as though he's about to cry. Soka is now crying as he realizes that his favorite jumbo beach ball is beyond repair and can never be played with again. Despite this, this isn't the end of this short story yet.
Drawing Samurott wasn't easy as, much like with Servine, there aren't too many official pieces of art for this Pokemon. Regardless of the lack of references out there outside of fan art, I worked with what I had to draw him as best as I could, considering the pose I wanted to do with him. Even so, this took me a while to put together as Samurott is a complicated creature to draw. It was still fun to pull off though. Figuring out the best way to draw air escaping/being forced out of the beach ball took some time to figure out, but I found a good reference as to how best to approach it. Drawing the jumbo beach ball flat was a task within itself, but I did what I could to emphasize it being flat by adding wrinkles to certain spots. I think the results turned out well in my opinion. I am aware that I could've just changed Soka's facial expression and called it a day, but I wanted to do something more than that and took on the challenge of redrawing his head, just so that I could move it and make it look as natural as possible. I had to redraw the main body too to accompany the new position too, but thankfully, that wasn't as hard as redoing the head in my opinion.
