Have you ever seen an acorn with a tiny round hole in it? ...you probably haven't, but those of you driven to pick up every acorn you see like me (even if you reluctantly drop them because you know you have nowhere to keep them) might have. XD That's thanks to the acorn weevil! They use their long snoots to chew holes into acorns in the summer and then lay eggs inside, and then the grubs feed on the acorns and chew their way back out of the acorns when they drop in the fall. Acorn weevils look... surprisingly like if you took a kiwi (the bird, not the fruit) and made it an insect. Cute lil guys. **Like what you see?
